From the mind of writer Charlie Kaufman comes this bizarre, but touching comedy that pits the freedoms of human instinct against the constructions of civilized behavior. A man raised by an ape (or a father who believed he was an ape) is "rescued" by a scientist obsessed with table manners and his self-denying girlfriend, who is trying desperately to hide a condition that produces massive amounts of body hair. Add to that a scientist's assistant living a double life, an electrologist looking for the perfect man, and a set of parents that I wouldn't wish on my enemies, and the result is a comedy that questions whether true happiness can really be achieved by "fitting in".
