some pillboxes near Friskney in Lincolnshire just north of the Wash. They all
seem to be identical hexagonal rifle pillboxes. The middle and lower pictures
are the same pillbox. The third was away across a field and the photo of it
too small.      TF 475 530  They're marked on Henry Wills map.

Were still pretty close to those at Friskney. These pillboxes are
at Gibraltar point south of Skegness. Its a great place of sea marshes and
sand dunes and of course bits of concrete. Again they appear to be local
variations with the top pillbox being a strange square pillbox with loopholes
all round. Its actually two stories with the lower one burried in the ground
and accessed from the back where the ground slopes away. The middle one is
the most ordinary and common although it has a strange sloping wall above the
door and no rearward firing loopholes. The bottom pillbox is the strangest of
all. Partly due to its size. Its TINY! its less than half the size of a
normal pillbox with worryingly thin walls.

KT

Again Gibraltar
point with the most numerous versions. There loophole design is virtually
identical to those of Friskney and what the defenders were supposed to do if
attacked from behind is anybodies guess.

The top two images are at Porthleven,
one blending into the harbour, the other sitting above the beach. The bottom
image shows a pillbox at Porthallow in Cornwall which seems to be built out
of concrete blocks. Porthallow is a small village at about SW 800  235.

This time at Dunstanburgh castle (image 1)
behind Craster (image 2) and High Newton by the Sea. The pre-fab pillbox is
at NU 257 218, facing towards Craster full of mud with a damaged front. The
second image shows a type 24 with the two rear walls shortened. The Pillbox
study group calls this a D shape. Its on your left going into Craster. Last
image is of another D-shape on the outskirts of High Newton. On the left as
you head towards Newton links and Beadnell bay NU 234 253. There is another
identical one in the very centre of High newton in somebodies drive but it is
so covered by climbing plants that it is easy to miss.
