Time After Time, 1979 |
H.G Wells played by Malcolm McDowell, invents a Time Machine which
is stolen by a his close friend and colleague Dr John Leslie Stevenson,
(David Warner) who turns out to be the infamous Jack the Ripper. The
Ripper travels into the future in order to escape the pursuing police
from Scotland yard and is unaware that "H.G" has also traveled into the
future in an attempt to find him and bring him back to justice. Along the
way Herbert meets Amy Robbins (Mary Steenburgen) who falls madly in
love with H.G and learns that he's not just a British gentlemen on holiday.
Written by Karl Alexander , Steve Hayes and directed by Nicholas Meyer.

Time After Time, 1979 - Various Main Cast Pictures |
Above, Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen in the seat of the
Time Machine. Also a very nice scene in the very beginning of the movie
showing Malcolm and David Warner playing chess together..
Above, another image of David Warner's character Dr John Leslie
Stevenson (aka Jack The Ripper) and a romantic dinner scene
with Malcolm and Mary..
FACT: Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen really did fall in love
during the making of the film and were married in 1980, there marriage
lasted 10 years together, ending in 1990..
Above, Malcom sitting in the Time Machine and on the right, a very
intense scene where H.G Wells finally catches up with John..
|
Time After Time, 1979 - The Time Machine, "The Argo" |
Above, H.G shows his Time Machine (Argo, short for Argonaut)
to his colleagues, the picture on the right clearly shows the name plate..
FACT: Although the Argo was cosmetically pleasing to the camera its
construction was not very pleasing to Director Nicholas Meyer who
found its faulty doors much to his disliking..
Above Right, H.G takes the Argo for a ride into the future, his
house keeper watching in dismay..
Above, two views of the Argo as it was seen in the H.G Wells display..
You can see a clear view of the door opened with actress Mary
Steenburgen standing close by..

Time After Time, 1979 - The Time Machine, Console |
Above, the Argo's console, now this part of the machine to me
is the best part, lots of levers gauges and lights.. On the right, a
very nice side view of the Argo with H.G at the console..
Above, a clear view of the console counters and a picture of
the little red key being inserted. Without the key the traveler
will travel in to the past or future but the time machine will return
immediately after the journey to its point of departure..
Above, a view of the control lever being raised by H.G, note the
lever is held with both hands and is arranged center of the console..
Also on the right, a very nice front view showing the entire unit, note
the small rotating shaft on the top which is lit up..
