I could use some people to "play test" (read: proxy) these cards,
to see if they are  unbalanced or not, and to see if any of these
cards need to be changed in some way or another.  More often than
not, this  applies to mana costs and  wording of text.  If you

                   SOME NOTE ON THESE CARDS

  1.  This  expansion set  is creature  heavy (I like creatures,
      especially angels).
  2.  Many of these cards may  appear to be re-hashes of existing
      cards, and you are right.
  3.  Some of these  cards could  now be considered obsolete, due
      to  existing  cards  or  cards  that  were  released  post
      to the creation of a particular card in this set.
  4.  Finally, most of  these  cards can  be said  to (putting it
      bluntly) "just plain  SUCK KARPLUSAN YETI GONADS".  You
      have been WARNED.

                       About Unknowns

The Unknowns(tm) expansion features new creatures, artifacts and
spells to add to your games.  Like other Magic: The Gathering(r)
expansions, the Unknowns set is compatible with all Magic(r) cards.


New Features of The Unknowns

The Unknowns introduces new features to the Magic game.  These new
abilities are explained below.

ASSAULT
There are some creatures that have the ability to surprise other
creatures in the game by directly attacking them.  Assault is an
ability that allows creatures to do this.  Treat the creature as if
the following was listed in its text box:

   This creature may be played to attack a creature in play.
   If you do, choose and remove a card in your hand from the
   game that shares a color of this creature instead of
   paying the mana cost, and this creature gains haste until
   end of turn.  Sacrifice this creature at end of turn.

Artifact Caller - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  Artifact Caller comes into play tapped.
  T,Sacrifice Artifact Caller: Search your library for an
  artifact card.  Reveal that card, put it into your hand, then
  shuffle your library.

Ball and Chain - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  T: Put a swing counter on Ball and Chain.
  T,Sacrifice Ball and Chain: Ball and Chain deals X damage to
  target creature, where X is the number of swing counters on
  Ball and Chain.  Play this ability only if you could play a
  sorcery.

Bane of Life - Legendary Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  When Bane of Life comes into play, sacrifice a creature or
  sacrifice Bane of Life.
  T: Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn.  Sacrifice
  that creature at end of turn.
  Sacrifice Bane of Life: Remove target creature from the game.

Beam Barrier - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  (X),T: Beam Barrier deals 1 damage to each creature attacking
  you.  X is the number of creatures attacking you.

Bed of Nails - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  Whenever any creature attacks you, Bed of Nails deals 1 damage
  to that creature and 1 damage to you.

Bicycle of Otinage - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  (3),T: Target creature gains a basic landwalk ability of your
  choice until end of turn.

  of turn.  If a creature is put into a graveyard in this way,

Candle of Summoning - Artifact, Mana Cost: (10)
  (1),T: Choose a creature card in your hand and put that card
  into play.

Cane of Roses - Legendary Artifact, Mana Cost: (6)
  Whenever a sorcery or instant spell successfully deals damage
  to you, that damage is reduced by 2.
  T: Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you from the
  next sorcery or instant spell this turn.

Chain Saw - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  (3),T: Target creature gets +2/+0 until end of turn.  Until
  end of turn, put a -1/-1 counter on creatures blocking or
  blocked by this creature.

Chalice of Dreams - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  Chalice of Dreams comes into play tapped.
  T,Sacrifice Chalice of Dreams: Search your library for three
  cards.  Remove one of those cards from the game, put one into
  your hand, then shuffle your library.  Put the remaining card
  on top of your library.

Charismatic Brew - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  Sacrifice Charismatic Brew: Choose a creature.  All creatures
  able to block the chosen creature this turn must do so.

Clockwork Timer - Artifact, Mana Cost: (6)
  Clockwork Timer comes into play with five countdown counters on
  it.
  During your upkeep, remove a countdown counter from Clockwork
  Timer.
  If there are no countdown counters on Clockwork Timer,
  sacrifice it and each player discards his or her hand.

Continuum Chamber - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  T,Discard a card from your hand: Put a warp counter on
  Continuum Chamber.
  (5),T,Remove two a warp counters from Continuum Chamber: Take
  an additional turn after the current one.

Controlling Rod - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  If Controlling Rod leaves play, remove all control counters

  T: Remove two target cards in each graveyard from the game.

Diverting Wawd - Artifact, Mana Cost: (1)
  T: Add one colorless mana to your mana pool.  Play this ability
  as a mana source.

Drain Chamber - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  (3),Pay 1 life: Target player loses 1 life.

Enchantment Caller - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  Enchantment Caller comes into play tapped.
  T,Sacrifice Enchantment Caller: Search your library for an
  enchantment card.  Reveal that card, then put it into your
  hand, then shuffle your library.

Fan of Ruby Lore - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  (X),T,Sacrifice a creature: Tap X target creatures.

Field of Runes - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  During your upkeep, pay (2) or sacrifice Field of Runes.

Golem Battle Armor - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  You may choose not to untap Golem Battle Armor during your
  untap step.
  T:  Target creature you control gets +2/+2 as long as Golem
  Battle Armor remains tapped.  If Golem Battle Armor becomes
  untapped, sacrifice that creature.

  gets the chosen modifier until end of turn.

Hermetic Brew - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  T,Sacrifice Hermetic Brew,Sacrifice a creature: Hermetic Brew
  deals X damage to target creature, where X is the sacrificed
  creature's converted mana cost.  Play this ability only if you
  could play a sorcery.

Holy Candelabra - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  (X)(1),T: Untap X target lands.  Holy Candelabra cannot untap
  until your next untap step.

Hydraulic Armor - Artifact Creature--Armor, 6/6, Mana Cost: (4)
  Hydraulic Armor cannot attack or block.
  Tap a creature you control: Hydraulic Armor may attack or block
  this turn, if able.  If Hydraulic Armor leaves play this turn,
  sacrifice the creature tapped in this way.

Hydraulic Hydra - Artifact Creature--Hydra, */4, Mana Cost: (6)
  Hydraulic Hydra's power is equal to the number of creatures
  that it blocks or blocks it in combat.  Otherwise, power is 0.
  (1): Hydraulic Hydra gets +1/+0 until end of turn.  You cannot
  use this ability more times per turn than the number of
  creatures that block or are blocked by Hydraulic Hydra.
  (2): Hydraulic Hydra can block an additional creature in combat
  this turn.

Iconic Ribbon - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  When Iconic Ribbon comes into play, choose a creature type.
  (X),T: All creatures of the chosen creature type that you
  control get +2/+2 until end of turn.  X is the number of
  creatures of the chosen type that you control.
  (X),T: Tap all creatures of the chosen creature type that
  target opponent controls.  X is the number of creatures of the
  chosen type that player controls.

Jeweled Box - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  T,Discard a creature card from your hand: Draw a card.

Kinetic Bomb - Artifact, Mana Cost: (6)
  Kinetic Bomb comes into play tapped.

  T: Target basic land you control is a different basic land of
  your choice until end of turn.

Mana Rod - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  If Mana Rod is in your hand, you may remove it from the game to
  add one mana of any color to your mana pool.  Play this ability

Mataza's Ring - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  You may play a spell card that is on Mataza's Ring as though it

Mutation Chamber - Artifact, Mana Cost: (6)
  (X),T,Remove two nontoken creatures you control from the game:
  Put a Mutation token into play.  Treat this token as a creature
  with the colors of the removed creatures, and with power and
  toughness each of the summed power and toughness of the removed
  creatures.  X is the sum of the total mana costs for both
  creatures.  X cannot be 0.

Otinage's Bauble - Artifact, Mana Cost: (0)
  If Otinage's Bauble is put into your graveyard from play,
  remove six cards below it from the game and put Otinage's
  Bauble into play.  If there are less than six cards below it,
  remove all of those cards and Otinage's Bauble from the game.
  Sacrifice Otinage's Bauble: Draw a card.

Otinage's Armory - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
  Each creature you control gains "T: This creature deals 1
  damage to target creature and 1 damage to itself."

Overcharge Battery - Artifact, Mana Cost: (6)
  Whenever any of your sorcery spells deals damage, that damage
  is increased by 1.

Pearl Fountain - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  (2),Put a random card from your hand at the bottom of your
  library: Draw a card.

Petard - Artifact, Mana Cost: (1)
  Petard comes into play with three fuse counters on it.
  At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a fuse counter from
  Petard.  When there are no fuse counters on Petard, sacrifice
  it and it deals 3 damage to each creature and player.

Philosopher's Stone - Legendary Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  Philosopher's Stone comes into play tapped.
  T,Shuffle Philosopher's Stone into its owner's library: Add
  four colorless mana to your mana pool.  Play this ability as a

Poison Gas Trap - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)

Raena Battery - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  During your upkeep, you may put a Raena counter on Raena
  Battery.
  The generic converted mana cost of each artifact, creature and
  enchantment is reduced by (X), where X is the number of Raena
  counters on Raena Battery.

Red Pearl - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  Red Pearl comes into play tapped.
  T: Add R to your mana pool.  Play this ability as a mana
  source.

Ritualistic Brew - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  Tap a creature you control: Add one colorless mana to your mana

  Whenever you successfully play a nonpermanent spell, you may
  pay (X) to put that card into your hand instead of your
  graveyard, where X is that spell's total mana cost plus one.

Shining Rose - Artifact, Mana Cost: (2)
  T,Sacrifice Shining Rose: Add two mana of any single color to
  your mana pool.  Play this ability as a mana source.

  of colors to your mana pool.  Play this ability as a mana

  You may choose not to untap Silk Wreath during your untap
  step.

Skin Flayer - Artifact, Mana Cost: (3)
  (1),T: Remove a +1/+1 counter from target creature.

Spirit Rod - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  Spirit Rod cannot be the target of spells or abilities.
  (1): Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.  At end of
  turn, an opponent gains control of Spirit Rod.

Spiritual Automaton - Artifact, 0/1, Mana Cost: (5)
  (5): Choose a creature card in your graveyard.  Spiritual
  Automaton becomes a copy of that creature card, including
  type, but retains this ability.

Splitting Chamber - Artifact, Mana Cost: (7)
  Whenever you put a creature card into play from your hand, you
  may put a copy of that creature card from your hand into play.

Syphoning Rod - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  (1),T: Tap target mana producing land.  Add mana to your mana
  pool equal to what could be generated by tapping the land for
  mana.  Play this ability as a mana source.

Sword Sphere - Artifact Creature--Wall, 6/1, Mana Cost: (0)
  Whenever Sword Sphere blocks, put a -1/-0 counter on it.

Sword of Unknowns - Legendary Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  T: Target creature gets +2/+1 gains first strike until end
  of turn.  If a creature is put into a graveyard during the same
  turn that this creature damaged it, remove that creature from
  the game. 
  If this creature leaves play this turn, sacrifice Sword of
  Unknowns.

Teck - Artifact, Mana Cost: (4)
  (4),T: Teck deals X damage to target creature, where X is the
  number of creatures you control.

Thread of Protection - Artifact, Mana Cost: (5)
