One of the most interesting things about it is the fact that it has a very strong underlying story-line and theme, which provides for a kind of continuity often lacking in many other MUDS. One of the major joys of the game is learning and reading about this history. The areas present in the game provide all manner of oppurtunity to discover and explore... as well as kill and gain valuable experience, equipment and gold. The player classes are varied and generally well coded and fun to play.
One thing about Ancient Anguish that explains a lot of what goes on there is the fact that Role-Playing isn't enforced, so people tend to play themselves more than a character. As a result, people tend to take things that happen there more personally than they might otherwise. I've been playing this game for a good while now. I've never been a wizard, so I'm not some Immortal looking for compliments. I find that all people ever seem to do on the game is complain and whine about how stuff sucks. I can imagine how I'd feel if I had to listen to that kind of thing after spending loads of time coding stuff to go into the game. I find that people are reluctant to compliment wizards who do things on the game, for fear of being labeled an ass-kisser or something similar. So what I'd like to do with this page is to provide an enviroment for people to be able to compliment things that they like in the game or discuss issues in an intelligent manner... and be able to do it anonymously to avoid being labeled. In fact, I'd prefer that it never became known who I really am... Along those lines, if you can think of players that stand out in your mind for being helpful or whatever... feel free to point them out as well.

Here's the deal... I want to put up a site that will require minimal maintenance by me. I think Ancient Anguish deserves more praise than it has been getting as of late, but I don't have the free time to pour into keeping this updated continuously. The PraiseBook available to be signed should suffice for most of what those of you who visit have to say. Anything of an extended nature can be mailed to the Tourism Office, and when I get to it, I'll add a new section to this page for those kind of submissions. If all you want to do is come here and post or mail me garbage, there are other places you can do that. Please spare us.
