Ok, here is what I think, everyone is out now trying to get a petition signed so that they can try to get squaresoft to bring Aeris back from the dead. Let me say a few things about this. I personally will not sign this petition or have anything to do with it. My opinions on these types of things is that squaresoft decided to kill Aeris off for a reason. A REASON. Not just because they felt like doing this at the spur of the moment, but because they thought that this might add to the storyline, which it did. Sure, I didn't like the fact that my best magic user just got killed, but it is part of the story. I find that it helps to have some main characters die off in a story. If no characters in any story died at all, what would have happened to Romeo and Juliet? This reminds me very much of what happened when people found out that General Leo died in Final Fantasy III. Everyone got so upset and so obsessed about trying to bring him back, that they forgot what he died for. Aeris was killed trying to save the planet. Which, as you find out near the end of the game, she accomplished. What if she had not died? This would have been not as good of an RPG as it is now. Many characters have died in games over the years, such as Tellah, Annah, Leo, Shadow, Mog and Cid (But you had the option of saving these three), and now Aeris. The deaths of these characters enhanced the quality of the game I thought. It made you get involved more in the story and perhaps even made you more determined to get those who kill them. To finish off this babbling, (if you read all that) I think that Aeris would be better off dead and left at that. Now, this doesn't mean to now go out and try to get a petition signed so that almost everyone gets killed, but to try and live with it and get on with your life. A more interseting twist than Aeris dying however, would be perhaps if Cloud and Sephiroth switched places, and Cloud was now the ultimate super being and Sephiroth turned over a new leaf and was trying to help save the planet. There are alot of things to things about what could've been, but it's better to just get going and play the game.
