"I'm gonna get that freak...'' Leo keeps telling himself. As he flies toward the being, he transforms back to flesh, diving towards him. But suddenly, he is choking, falls to the ground. The figure turns around, watching Leo struggle for life. "Remember this, mortal. You will NOT block my path. So says 'The Alternator'. Leo watches the Alternator walk off in the distance. He can't see the being's face, since he wears all dark clothes, and since everything else is dark around him.

Back at Mushroom Hill, the Guardian of this island, Knuckles the Echidna, searches the horizon for evil. "Nothing in sight, Vector. What about you and the rest of the Chaotix?'' he says over his walkie talkie. Vector answers, "Nuthin here, Rad Red. I'll check with the others. Hold on.'' Knuckles waits silently and patiently. Then something comes over the walkie Talkie. ''MAYDAY, MAYDAY!! SOME DUDE'S TRYIN TO KICK OUR BUTTS!! SEND HELP QU----" The transmission is over. Knux tries to answer back, "Yo Vec! Who's trying to kick your butts? ANSWER!!!!'' He waits. Then a transmission goes over the walkietalkie in an evil voice. ''Hello, Knuckles. Nice day isn't it? Your friend is indesposed at the moment. Call again later.'' The transmission comes to an end. Knux races toward Hydro City where Vector was. When he reaches the rendesvous point, he looks around. He sees Vector, standing with glowing red eyes. Something is not right about this, thinks Knuckles. Vector makes fists, and punces Knux. "WHOA!!!" Knux falls to the ground, but flips Vector over. Knux runs off to get help from an old friend, Leo Ice.

Ami, who waits on the couch, worried, looks out he window, seeing that her husband is unconscious. She gasps as she bursts out the door. She jumps off the treehouse and lands on the ground. Ami runs to Leo's side, questioning, "Leo, what the hell happened???" Leo starts to wake up, wondering himself what had happened. "Huh?? Wh---" Ami interupts. "Leo, what happened to you?" Leo answers, "Some wierd dude attacked me... He calls himself 'The Alternator'.. Leo, tired and worn out, gets up and walks toward the treehouse. Knuckles runs toward Leo and yells, "LEO!!! SOME DUDE TRIED TO ATTACK VECT---" Leo starts to interrupt. "The Alternator, I guess.. He just attacked me.. Just left me unconscious..." Knux answers back. "He turned Vec against me.. We had a short fight.. That was it..." The Alternator walks out of the shadows toward the three echidnas. "Hmm.. How about a little combat?" Leo turns and starts to turn red with anger. "You..." Knux and Ami are confused, not sure what to do. The Alternator tosses his hat and trenchcoat away, reveiling a black echidna with M. Bison-type clothes, only black and grey. "Lets begin." The Alternator jumps toward the three, but the echidnas act quickly. Leo jumps upward and Knux and Ami jump to the side. Leo lands on to of the black echidna and jumps back. "Guys, we got to create a diversion.. I've got a plan." They huttle, whispering as the Alternator gets up. Leo steps up and forward. Ami stands beside him, and Knux gets ready to pounce behind them. Leo and Ami throw Ice Blasts at Alternator and sends him into a deep freeze. Knuckles jumps from behind and throws a punch at the person, sending him into pieces. Leo glares at the leftovers. "That was easy." Ami replies. "Too easy.." The pieces come together and the Alternator flies up. "You three are worthy opponents. Until next time..." He turns everything back to normal and flies away. Leo looks around. "Until next time, eh? That doesn't sound like long..." He thinks about what will happen. What Next? thinks Leo.
