Where I work:
I work at National Starch and Chemical Company. I am a Quality Control Analyst there. Working in the QC Lab there can be quite hectic, so I have quite a few hobbies to blow off stress! Check 'em out!
My Hobbies:
Mostly, I play games. I play video games at arcades and on my computer. I play board games like Risk and Monopoly. I have even been known to throw the occasional Frisbee, football or basketball pass. But the games I find most fun are RPGs. No, not Final Fantasy VIII or Tomb Raider. Things like the Storyteller games from White Wolf: Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, Changeling: The Dreaming, and soon, Hunter: The Reckoning. Heck, I like Storyteller so much that I downloaded the Highlander: The Quickening rules. This whole site is great. Check it out.
I also play AD&D, with Spelljammer and Forgotten Realms being my favorite campaign settings. It's a real bummer that they retired Spelljammer. It's even worse that they're coming out with AD&D 3rd edition, since I own about $400 worth of 2nd edition stuff. Anyone want some slightly used 2nd edition AD&D books?
On top of that, there's the smaller, less known systems of Tales Of The Floating Vagabond (a very Monty Python-ish game), Sailor Moon RPGand I just got the Dragon Ball Z game.
Of course, to play all this, I have to read a lot. And I do. But my reading isn't confined to rule books. I love sci-fi/fantasy and horror. Laurell K. Hamilton, David Weber, Lois McMaster Bujold, David Eddings, Spider Robinson and The Great One: Robert Heinlein are all on my shelves, with dozens of other authors as well. I love to discuss the works of a good science fiction writer.
My Obsessions:
Yes, I have obsessions. Everyone does, but I must admit that mine are a little odd for a twentysomething college graduate. I love cartoons! J Not just any cartoons, either. I love Sailor Moon, Reboot and Dragon Ball Z. These are the first three shows on Cartoon Network's Toonami show. Sailor Moon, for those not in the know, is about a group of five young girls with some amazing powers trying to save the earth from the Negaverse. Dragon Ball Z is about a group of superpowered fighters trying to save first the earth, and then the universe itself, from various superpowered villains. Both are anime cartoons. Reboot, made in Canada, is a computer-generated cartoon about a group of "sprites" that fight to keep Mainframe, a computer, and its occupants safe from evil viruses, "The User" and his game cubes and energy-draining Net beasts. I know all this sounds kind of odd, but hey, its an obsession. It doesn't have to make sense.
Recently, I have started collecting comic books again. Spider-man, Spawn, Batman, Mutant X, Danger Girl and Witchblade are my current favs. My wife has gotten into the act, as well. But I'll let her tell you what she likes and doesn't like.
My final obsession is with my wife. I love to buy her things. Comic books, pictures, books, toys, movies, CDs, games, furniture, and yes, for all those pervers, lingerie. It doesn't really matter what I buy her. I just love to buy her things.
My Motto:
To quote from the greatest movie series of all time (Star Wars): "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
In other words, you can either do something or not do it. There is no in between. I prefer to get it done, myself.
Hello, people! I'm Lena, the short blonde of our daring duo. I teach English at the high school level, even though I look younger than some of my students. This is my first year teaching, and although I have received some wonderful tips and pointers from co-workers and superiors, I still browse the net for "outside" ideas. Some have very good ideas, especially for English teachers. Check this one out: www.oocities.org/SoHo/workshop/8405/
All in all, I love my job and wouldn't trade it for anything.
On the more personal side of things, I absolutely love Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The official site for Buffy is awesome. This, along with many of my newest passions, have been developed or fueled by Michael. A few of these are my recent interests in comics. Check out some of these links. I get Buffy, of course, Spider Girl, Wonder Woman, and my wonderful husband's X-Men comics. We also play RPGs and other such games, but Michael has already talked about that.
My largest personal objective at this point in time, however, is trying to figure out my husband. We have been together for four years, but only married for a year. We are both still surprising one another. I hope it never stops. We're having so much fun!
(The format for this section is Lena's idea. If it sucks, flame her. If it's cool, let her know. I take full responsibility for everything else.)
Lena: We are pretty simple as a couple.
Mike: In a complex sort of way.
Lena: We are getting settled just fine.
Mike: Except for the boxes strewn all over my, uh?our apartment.
Lena: We want kids, but not for a year or two.
Mike: I agree totally. A year or two, or three, or four, or?
Lena: What's more is that we agree on virtually everything.
Mike: I'm not gonna touch that one.
Lena: That's us! Thanks for stopping in. Have a good one.
Mike: Yeah, thanx a bunch. BTW, if you think this place is cool, then we will update (Year Two, Year Three, etc.). If it we don't get any e-mail, then we will know its not cool, so?
