Part II -
LeChuck's Revenge

Sometime later Guybrush arrives on Scabb Island to find the legendary
pirate treasure, Big Whoop. In the town of Woodtick he is robbed by Largo
LaGrande, LeChuck's former right-hand man who controls the island with an iron
fist. Guybrush also meets Wally, a mild-mannered cartographer and learns the story of Big Whoop.
Four shipwreck survivors, led by Elaine's grandfather, washed up on an island called Dinky and found the
mysterious treasure. Never wanting anyone else to find it, Captain Marley and his crew - Rum
Rogers, Sr.,
the first mate; Rapp Scallion, the cook, and Lindy, the cabin boy, took the map they made of
the island and split it up among the four of them and went their separate ways.
Largo has
imposed a sailing embargo on the island so Guybrush
turns for help to the Voodoo Lady, who has relocated to Scabb Island. Together they
make a voodoo doll which runs Largo off the island. Unfortunately, in gloating
triumph, Guybrush reveals to Largo that he defeated LeChuck. As proof Guybrush
shows him LeChuck's still alive (and wriggling) beard. Largo steals
the beard, promising to resurrect the ghost pirate as a zombie. Knowing that a
reanimated LeChuck will be out to seek revenge, Guybrush again asks the Voodoo
Lady for advice. She tells him that his only hope for
defeating LeChuck lay in discovering Big Whoop, which contains the secret to
another world. Find that world she tells him, and he will be able to
escape LeChuck forever. With Largo gone Guybrush charters Captain Dread's ship to find the
missing Big Whoop map pieces.
Nearby Phatt Island
is Guybrush's first stop. He is jailed by the island's corrupt governor who
hopes to collect the sizeable bounty LeChuck has put on his head.
After escaping Guybrush heads for the Phatt Island casino where he wins a ticket to Elaine Marley's Madi Gras Party.
She is now the governor of nearby Booty Island which becomes Guybrush's next stop.
The
invitation entitles him to a free costume, unfortunately it's a pink
tutu. At her mansion
Guybrush spies Elaine's grandfather's map piece. Elaine,
heartbroken that her former love seems more interested in treasure than in her, throws
the map piece
out the window. The wind blows it off a cliff and only with the help of Elaine's dog,
Little Guybrush, is "big" Guybrush able to get the
first map piece.
Guybrush discovers the second piece of the
map being sold for an astronomical price at a Booty Island store. The owner offers to trade it for the
figurehead from a sunken ship, the Mad Monkey. Winning a spitting
contest gets Guybrush enough money to
book voyage
on Kate Capsize's glass-bottomed tour boat. After retrieving the
figurehead, Guybrush gets the second map piece. Booty Island is also home
to Stan, now peddling used coffins. In Stan's showroom Guybrush notices a crypt key
hanging on the wall. Remembering that Rapp Scallion was buried with his
map piece on Scabb Island, Guybrush tricks Stan into demonstrating a coffin,
nails him in it and takes the key.
Back at the Scabb Island cemetery Guybrush uses
Stan's crypt key and a pirate quotation book to open Rapp Scallion's coffin,
only to find the pirate's cremated ashes. An "ashes to life"
potion from the Voodoo Lady restores Rapp long enough for Guybrush
to get his piece of the map.
Now with
three pieces of the map in hand, Guybrush travels back to Phatt Island and tracks down Rum
Rogers, Jr. Rum won't discuss his father's map piece
unless beaten in a drinking contest. Guybrush switches his strong grog with Kate
Capsize's "near grog". Guybrush defeats Rum and finds the secret location of his
father's piece of the map.
To put together the four map pieces correctly, Guybrush consults Wally.
The cartographer agrees to restore the map in return for a love bomb
from the Voodoo Lady. But while Guybrush goes to retrieves it LeChuck
kidnaps Wally (and the map). Guybrush climbs inside a crate of voodoo supplies to be delivered to
LeChuck and soon arrives at the maze-like fortress that is the zombie pirate's
headquarters. After finding Wally locked in the dungeon Guybrush finds the key
in LeChuck's throne room. LeChuck discovers them and plans a fiendish torture
for Guybrush and Wally but they escape and stumble into a dynamite-filled room which of course, they accidentally ignite.
Somehow Guybrush survives the explosion and lands on Dinky
Island. There he finds Herman Toothrot and the tunnel leading
to Big Whoop. LeChuck is waiting for him and tortures him with a
voodoo doll. Guybrush puts together a
voodoo doll he thinks destroyed LeChuck but actually LeChuck cast a spell on
Guybrush, returning him to childhood. Guybrush believes he is on an
amusement park trip with his parents and his brother "Chuckie" but Guybrush
actually was trapped in LeChuck's Carnival of Doom. Somehow he escapes...
