In April 1997 two seventeen year old schoolfriends, Tim Glanfield and Mike Chittick met in Carl Allen's garage near Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. Their aim was to start a guitar based band that represented their diverse music tastes. Mike and Carl had been friends for many years and had dabbled in music before with their previous band Goldfish. Likewise, Tim was no stranger to music, having written and performed songs with his close friend Nick Carter under the name Circumspect since 1995.
However this meeting represented the true beginnings of the band Circumspect that can be seen touring the nation today. Tim immediately took over as frontman after impressing the others with his charisma and confidence. |

Mike as the most accomplished musician naturally became the lead guitarist. Carl immediately fitted into the group as the bass player. In those early months the three practiced hard and wrote a dozen or so songs that made them a well known and respected force amongst their peers. It was this ambition and drive that Alison Wood-Kaczmar, another schoolfriend, recognised. She was soon recruited as a keyboard player and female vocalist. By the summer of 1997 the band were ready for their first performance in public, a low key affair in Carl's garage, mainly to friends. Although at the time the band were fairly happy with the way things were going, they all realised that something was missing from their sound; drums! |

Chris Nedzynski joined the band in November 1997 after session drumming on, and producing the Ingredients E.P. An already acomplished drummer his talents offered the missing piece of the jigsaw. It took Tim about two seconds to make up his mind when Chris asked to join the band; "there was never any question, he was always one of us!". With Chris on board and a well received E.P. released the band entered 1998 full of hope and ambition.
The gigs of '98 will be remembered by all those in the South East for their naive and youthful charm. There was a spark, but the real fire was lit after Jim Fish teamed up with the band on Alison's departure. A brilliant Bass player full of spirit he helped the Circumspect 'sound' evolve and mature. Carl took the mantle on rhythm guitar, his first love and more naturally suited role. |

The gigging continued with that line-up into the new millennium. However, with all but one of the band members at University, they were limited to a hanful a year.
The band's main creative outlet therefore had to be in the studio. 1999 saw the release of the bands first full album 4 and a half years. It topped the Trumps Independent charts and took the band into new found territory. Sudenly they were being loved and appreciated not only by those in their local area, but thanks to distribution deals and the internet they began to acrew fans all over the globe.
The next summer saw the realease of The Unluckiest Man in the World. This album comprised of fifteen tracks and represented by far the bands most exciting project to date. Recorded in three weeks in the Essex countryside it took their guitar based music to a new level; incorporating classical instruments and sophisticated production techniques. Just like it's predecessor this album received critical acclaim the world over, from press and fans alike. |
