Richard III

Born in 1452, and dying in 1485, Richard ruled over England for just two years, from 1483 until his death at Bosworth Field. After his defeat, Henry Tudor assumed the crown as Henry VII. In the decades following his death, Richard's memory was vilified by Tudor propagandists, culminating in Shakespeare's portrayal of him.

In the modern context, he is seeing a return to popularity, as people try to see past the propaganda to get at the "the truth". As a result there are already pages dedicated to him on the Web, including:

The Richard III Society
