Between 1943 and 1945 the skies of Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex teamed with bombers. By day the USAAF 8th Airforce massed its huge formations of B17's and B24's in the crowded skies. At night the skies belonged to the RAF's Lancaster and Halifax bombers. German targest were pounded day and night. These pages are a tribute to the men who flew these dangerous and costly missions. The pictures are mainly of B17's but you will find a few B24's as well as the fighters that escorted them and also the German fighters that desperately tried to defend against them.. |

SAVE SALLY B!! Another crazy piece of Euro madness, the Sally B has been given the same insurance classification at a Boeing 737. This adds £1000 per flying hour to her costs. As a result she is grounded. Scroll down to the Sally B website link (GO TO LATEST NEWS PAGE) to join the campaign to exempt historic aircraft from commercial insurance rates. Maybe she should revert to her former role and deliver some 750lb bombs to the European Parliament and do us all a favour!! |
