OSPHRONEMUS GORAMY
The Osphronemus Goramy or giant gourami as it is also known originates from Indonesia where it is farmed as a food fish due to its size and the short time it takes to reach that size.

This particular one is a Pink Giant called Braveheart he belongs to my wife and i let her keep it in with my catfish, they are LEO, a Leiarius Marmoratus, JEFFREY, a Giraffe Cat, SHOVEY, a Sorubim Lima Shovelnose, and BRUCE, Who is a Black Shark.

Braveheart eats almost anything (he takes food from our fingers) but his favourite snacks are mussels, cockles and prawns, he is also partial to peas, grapes and bananas(he still needs his bananas cut up for him).

My wife acquired braveheart in March of 2001 and he was 2 inches long, now, 10 months later he measures 14 inches and so is really still a baby.

He is housed in a 72x24x24 tank at the moment but will be rehoused later this year into a 10 footer.

Giant Gouramis can live for upto 25 years and so if you are thinking of getting one he might outlive you.
