Thanks to all the runners who came from all over to participate in our races! Foofie and I were having a little pillow talk last night and she said it is time to reinvent the TIMTAM Festival of Races. She said it was too high tech and too expensive. "You should make it free," she said. (I try not to argue with someone more intelligent than me - especially a woman.) So look for some changes next year. But just as much fun! Best to you all - Arne N.Larsen Several things of note this year: >Some runners saw the red fox run accross the pedistrian creek bridge and thru the back of Brookside Park a half hour or so before the races! >There were no DNF's >About 10 finishers ran their first marathon or 50K >New men's marathon course record >First wheel chair racer ever at TIMTAM races finished the marathon >Youngest (17yearold woman) finisher ever at Central States Marathon >Runners came from 14 other states, Florida to Hawaii >Over half of marathon & 50K runners were from out-of-state ("early starts" started at different times - "early start" times are not official ) 2005 50K Results 1st place woman 5:17:19 Kathleen Wendel 49 Ames Iowa (10 minutes faster than her time 5 years ago) Men 1 1 4:23:59 Mike Morgan 37 Prairie Village KS 2 1 4:45:05 Ryan Hamilton 25 Topeka KS 3 1 4:45:20 Patrick Mills 53 Champaign IL 4 1 4:59:31 Larry Walden 58 Marshalltown IA 5 2 5:17:19 Jonathan Wendel 50 Ames Iowa - first ultra 6 2 5:22:32 Tom Detore 57 Unadilla NE 200+ marathons/ultras 7 3 5:38:23 David Swenson 50 Ames IA 8 1 7:04:15 Charles Sayles* 68 Glendale CA 40+ marathons/ultras. 1964 ISU grad - PHD in Nuclear Engineering 9 3 7.09:27 D.Paul Piplani* 58 Phoenix AZ PHOTOS TAKEN AT THE FARTHERMOST TURNAROUND ON THE 50k COURSE SHOW THAT SOMEONE MISTAKENLY TOOK A WRONG TURN AND SHORTCUTTED THE COURSE BY THREE MILES.
