"Fear is the path to the dark side... fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate.. hate leads to suffering."

Director and creator George Lucas begins his saga with the story of a nine year old slave named Anakin who goes against all odds to win not only a podrace, but his freedom.  Once he has his freedom, he leaves his mother Shmi and his home planet Tatooine to go to the Jedi Temple with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-wan Kenobi to see if he would be trained as a Jedi for it was discovered by Qui-Gon that Anakin had a higher midichlorian count than Master Yoda.  There exists a prophecy that the one who is to bring balance to the force has the highest midichlorian count in a life form.  Because of Anakin's age and his fear, the Jedi Council do not grant his training at this time, for there were more pressing matters.

The Trade Federation created a blockade outside the planet Naboo while amassing a huge droid army to eventually invade and take control of the planet.  The Queen of Naboo, Padme Amidala would not stand for this invasion and pleaded her case in the Galactic Senate.  Because of lack of confidence in Chancellor Valorum's leadership, a new leader of the Senate was elected, the current senator of Naboo, Palpatine.

With no help from the Senate, Queen Amidala takes matters into her own hands.  With Qui-Gon and Obi-wan by her side, she plans to take back control of Naboo while enlisting the help from the Gungan race that resides underwater on the planet.  The Gungans provide a diversion far from the city allowing Queen Amidala to capture the Viceroy of the Trader Federation and end the conflict.

Unfortunately, the two Jedi Knights encounter a Sith, Darth Maul who kills Qui-Gon, but meets his demise at the hands of Obi-wan.  Obi-wan takes Anakin as his padawan learner for it was Qui-Gon's dying wish.  After all is said and done, Anakin will be trained as a Jedi, there is peace on Naboo between the Gungans and the people, the Viceroy will have to answer to the Senate for his misdeeds, and Palpatine is now the Chancellor of the Senate.  Underlying all of this, Yoda states that there are always two Sith - a master and an apprentice.  But which was destroyed by Obi-wan, the master or the apprentice?
