"Join me, and we can rule the galaxy as father and son."
After the Empire’s devastating loss of their beloved Death Star, they strike back hard against the rebels. Using probe droids, the Empire is able to locate the rebels’ new hidden base on the planet Hoth and lay it to waste. Our heroes suffer a huge loss. They proceed to escape, but are pursued across the galaxy. Unfortunately, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and C-3P0 are captured by the Empire with the help of a bounty hunter named Boba Fett and Han’s old friend Lando. Han is then encased in carbonite to be delivered to Jabba the Hutt for debts owed to him. The others are ordered to be taken to Vader’s ship.
Meanwhile, on the planet Dagobah, Luke seeks Jedi Master Yoda to continue his training that Obi-wan began. As Yoda teaches Luke, he begins to have visions of his friends in pain. To Yoda’s chagrin, Luke ends his training early to save his friends. He promises to come back and complete his training.
Luke finds his friends at Cloud City and encounters Darth Vader. While Luke and Vader battle, Lando turns over a new leaf and helps Leia, Chewbacca and C-3P0 try to save Han. Unfortunately they are too late, so they proceed to save themselves from the clutches of the Empire.
In the battle between Vader and Luke, Vader defeats Luke by cutting off his right hand. He urges Luke to join him and together they can rule the galaxy as father and son. Luke successfully does not give into the dark side and leaps down a reactor shaft where he drops out of an exhaust pipe and lands on a weather vane on the bottom of Cloud City. Using the force, Luke is able to communicate with Leia and she makes Lando and Chewbacca go back and save him. With Luke aboard the Millennium Falcon, R2 fixes the hyperdrive and our heroes manage to escape to fight another day to restore freedom and peace to the galaxy.
