Personal Tastes
There are a few questions that Tirtha Pratim can not give a single anwser. Just ask him when you meet.....
1. Who is your favourite poet ?

Tirtha Pratim simply can not tell...... mentioning Rabindranath Tagore merely as his 'favourite' can not justify his devoted obsession for Tagore-creations. Favourite poem ? There are many....... how can only one be sorted out ? But..... still..... Tirtha Pratim says, if you ask to mention some poems which he likes to recite any time , in any situation, at any place ....... he would mention.....
>> Jibon Debota ; ...specially those lines " Je shure bandhile e beenar taar, namiya namiya gechhe baar baar, He Kobi, tomar rochito raagini ami ki gahite pari ?"

>> Tomar Srishtir Poth

>> that poem in "Sesher Kobita" , which says "Poth bendhe dilo bondhonheen granthi, aamra dujon cholti haowar ponthi..."

Still more are there, in different moods... why dont you start a conversation with Tirtha Pratim on this topic and discover how obsessed he is ?

2. What is your favourite music ?

He can not answer..... that again depends on mood.... simply mention or hum some songs of Tagore in his presence .... and watch his reaction...

>> Tumi ki keboli chhobi
>> Amare tumi osesh korechho
>> Jibon jokhon shukaye jay karunadharay esho
>> Esho shyamolo shundoro...

Indian classical music is the one which works on him magically. Different ragas like Darbari Kanada, Bagesri, Desh,  etc. touch the heart.

Nazrul Geeti is fascinating not for only rythm, but for the down-to-earth nature of its romance. The romance of Tagore is similar to worship, while that of Nazrul is very much humane.

"Atulprasad" and "Rajanikanta"  songs  form a new school of art . They touch the heart in different way.

Tirtha Pratim never forgets to mention how much fond he is of Mirza Gaalib's urdu shayeris. But to discuss this , you may have to catch him in a different mood. May be during an evening, when there is a power-cut, in candle light..... . But in that sitting, never mention  of Tagore, he may digress to that !
