A Note From The Editor
By Mark Kadlecik
If you still have a
copy of the first newsletter, please take re-read the note from the editor
section. If you dont have a copy, let me remind you of the content of that
particular article. I made a call to the membership, challenging their loyalty to
our association. This was spurred by the poor attendance at the 2000 winter meeting
in Charlotte. As of Saturday (12/8/01) about half of our membership has responded to
Tom Richardson in regards to attending the meeting. This is a figure that is up from
last year. However, I still believe we can do better.
It is not too late to send your $10 cheque in to
The winter meeting is of vital importance. It
is at this gathering that the executive officers are elected. This meeting holds
greater importance in that the name of our association will be voted on as
well. I understand the holiday season brings on additional
responsibilities. However, we as a membership only meet twice a year. Please,
if you havent already done so, send your check in to Tom Richardson.
Name Change Narrowed Down
The T.I.S.O.A. board of directors met in Goldsboro on 12/08/01 and narrowed the possible names for our association down to the following:
1. SRS- Select Referee Services (ask Paul) 2. TransCarolina
3. North Carolina 4. Tarheel
Be sure to attend the general meeting in Greensboro on 12/15/01 and cast your vote for your favorite name for our association.

Fahy makes the Final Four
Jim Fahy, affectionately know as the silver fox, was selected to work the Division II Final Four in Tampa, Florida. Jim worked as an assistant referee on the semifinal and the alternate official in the National Championship. Congratulations to Jim on an accomplishment well earned! Another Successful Year for T.I.S.O.A. Many of our members received post-season assignments proving once again that we are the premier chapter in N.I.S.O.A. Not only did several of our referees work the Big South and Southern Conference Mens and Womens tournament but many also received Division One playoff assignments from Frank Jewell. This is another example of how top-level assessors and excellent training in our clinics lead to high level officiating. Well-done T.I.S.O.A.!
Speaking of Alex Almaguer
Could this be just another coach in
North Carolina who does not agree with Mr. Almaguer? No not Anson!
