Scouting: Probably the best skater in the whole draft, Belle won the fastest skaters competition at the top prospects game and rumors were flying that he had injured his groin the previous week. To go along with his quickness Belle is also a very agile skater who is also effective skating backwards. A physical defenseman who can lay an excellent open ice hit as well as punish people along the boards. Very strong on the puck and is a good stickhandler as well. Has a hard shot from the point which his point totals indicate he doesn't use all that often. Hits an excellent outlet pass which is hard and accurate. Sees ice well and is very smart with his passes. You wish Shawn would skate the puck up himself more but that will come with maturity. Smart defensively, makes the right plays and keeps a good position on opponents, doesn't run around too much. Good with his stick, excellent pokechecker, keeps his stick in the right spots. |
