Breakfast Dress
The Breakfast Dress is worn by Rose the morning after the First Class Dinner/ Third Class Dance with Jack, during the breakfast on the Private Promenade with Cal.
The gown is a yellow gown topped by an overdress of embroidered net lace. The short sleeves and oversleeves are also of this embroidered lace. A wide lace trim borders the bodice and oversleeve edges and the neckline is trimmed with tiny yellow flowers.
The two pieces this dress consists of are a stain underdress with a lace overdress. The pattern of this dress is much like the Sinking dress, with the difference being that the overdress is not separated by sashes and comes together in the front just under the chest, with not as many layers as the Sinking dress in the skirt (two in the Breakfast dress, five in the Sinking dress)
Also remarkable about this gown is its little flowers lining the neckline and the sleeves. Furthermore, small satin ribbons are attached to the sleeves, these are also to be found at the front where they hang down from the end of the neckline at about ten inches length. Also, on these loose ends of the ribbons, little satin flowers can be found.
The yellow satin underdress is lined with a cream polyester lining, and has a V lace insert in the front. The overdress is made of delicate ivory patterened lace with a square back and V front, edged with an ivory lace trim, and includes lace oversleeves. The separate lace overdress is trimmed with hand strung yellow ribbon roses, and closes in the front with hook and eyes. The overdress falls into a round train in the back, with does not have a seam down the back to detract from the lace's appearance.
If you would like a copy of this gown, one of my favorites in the film, next to the Sinking and Flying dresses, look in my links section.  Movie Costumes creates a beautiful version of this gown, very close to Rose's.
