Judy Garland's
"The Christmas Show" Dress
This gown was worn by Miss Judy Garland on the night of December 6th, 1963, during the taping of the fifteenth episode of her one hour television show,
"The Judy Garland Show"
I have contacted many Garland fans, some of whom where present that night as to the details of this gown.
The gown is made of a deep red taffeta, which appears to have some kind of rectangular texture on it, which is somewhat viewable in the photo to the left. The gown is accented by black fur trim around the neck as well as the arms. The gown is closed by a series of red fabric buttons which run down the front of the gown. The gown also has pockets in the side seams of the gown, which are about where Judy's hands disapper in the photo to the left.
This gown appears to me to be somewhat form fitting down to the waist, while flowing to fuller skirt below the waist.
The sleeves of this gown also end at the elbow level, with the fur trim.
The back of the skirt of this gown is not at all form fitting, which is somewhat shown it the photo to the left, and more so in the computer sketch of the gown I have created on down to the right.
The colorized photo to the left gives you some idea to the color of the dress, although a more true color is attained from the two rare photos below of Judy in the "Christmas Dress" in 1968.
Below are various photos which might provide more detail as to the general appearance of the gown.
