Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers Replicas
Now every true Wizard of Oz fan has to have their own pair of Ruby Slippers don't they? Everyone who has ever looked for a pair of ruby slippers knows well the little cheap nowhere near replicas that are out there for little girls, but if you want a true "replica" pair, you have VERY few choices, three infact. Here I will describe each one, and it's pros and cons.
Maker: Jack Townsend Descrption: His shoes, although they look really nice, are $257 dollars (including S&H) His shoes are created using flat, metallic sequins, which are prestrung. This means the sequins come in spools with a thread keeping them in a row. These sequins are ideal for display, but impractical if you intend to wear the shoes, since, in this case, they will immedently begin to come off the shoes. His bows appear nice, although I've heard they are made from Kleenex cardboad. His shoes are sold ALL SALES FINAL. If your shoes don't fit (it you didn't buy Judy's size) your out of luck, and $257.00. He does although offer lifetime repairs on sequins and bows.
Maker: Western Costume Description: They're shoes are exactly like Judy's having been made from the exact same molds, using the exact sequins originally used. They are although $5,000.00.
Maker: Fairy Dust Shoes Description: Her shoes are made from french heeled pumps that very closely resemble Judy's. She is also extremelly affordable, at $120 for an adult pair of sequined ruby slippers. She also offers children's and infant's sizes, as well as a stunning ruby slippers that are covered in rhinstones instead of sequins for $250. If it counts for anything anymore, she is also one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever had the plaesure of being in contact with. Her sequined shoes are made from cupped sequins, but this only adds to their firey brilliance when worn in the sunlight. Her bows, if you special request them, can be made for an extra $20 (due to time) to be exact reproductions of the bows of the originals. When you buy her shoes she sends along a nice little "slipper repair kit"! Where a sequin or rhinstone ever to fall off, you are given the needed tools to instantly repair it. An extra bonus with her shoes is that if you choose to buy them in your size (who wouldn't?) and they don't fit, she will remake them at no charge in a bigger/smaller size!
