Sinking Coat
Rose wears this pink wool coat from the point in the film where she is at the Grand Staircase with Mr. Andrews, where he tells her the fate of the ship, until she discards it in a flooding stairwell, while heaving an axe through the bowls of the ship, attemping to save Jack.
The coat has embrodery on the collar and cuffs, which is appears very intricate, but simple once it is studyed for a matter of moments.
This coat is made of a fine, very soft pink wool, and lined with perfectly matched pink silk.  The trim on the collar and cuffs is a very fine souche braid, but the edges of the cuffs and collar are done with a much smaller, finer silk braid. All is hand sewn in place.
The J. Peterman reproductions replicate the materials and trimming exactly, although the buttons are different. The buttons on the original are hand-made with black silk worked over button form disks.
This coat also has princess seams which run on the front, back, and underarms of the coat, which to me, give it a more graceful and formal look.
This coat must be the most "neglected" of all Rose's outfits! While she only wears it for a short period in the film, it is a magnificent piece none the less! This also seems to be the most wearable piece today of Rose's clothing, that can be worn on a day-to-day basis.
If you are looking for a seamstress to recreate Rose's beautiful coat for you, please visit Past and Preasent Creations. I cannot whole-heartedly recommend That Sinking Feeling for the coat, since, from posted pictures, their embroidery is inaccurate and seems skimpy.

I am currently in the process of purchasing a Sinking Coat from Past and Present Creations, her first attempt at the coat.

Alexis Bledel.
Hey! That's not Kate! Yoour right! In the new Walt Disney film, Tuck Everlasting, the lead character Winifred (Alexis Bledel) wears this altered version of the Sinking Coat. It has been made to button like a double breasted coat, but it is clear that this is an alteration. The coat has also been shortened to a knee length, as well as in a more beige color, but it is in every other way, including the trimmings, idenical to the coat worn in Titanic.
By the way, the film is wonderfully touching, and should not be missed!
