The Crucifixion Of Jesus

This picture depicts Jesus' death. After being captured in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was put to trial before the Sanhedrin and Pontius Pilate. Jesus was sentenced to crucifixion after being convicted of blasphemy even though Pilate knew he was innocent. Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, which means Place of the Skull, and was mocked by the people saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself"(MT 27:24). After a few hours, Jesus said "'Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?' which means, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me'"(MT 27:46) and then he died.
