My Biographical Information - The Skinny on this Kool Kat, so to speak.

Back to Thomas Farren Webpage.

I am 23 years old, and the second of five children.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, where I attended St. William Grade School and St. Joseph's Preparatory High School.  I played the typical sports in the neighborhood - baseball, soccer and basketball.  I was also one of the founding members of the grade school track team, founded by Mr. Reilly.  I was not a star, but I was okay.  I have been acting since 3rd grade, and still enjoy it as recreation.  I was not one of the original "Nice Boys" of St. Williams, but was later accepted into that group.  My best year was 8th grade summer.  We were baseball champs, and it was the last summer I did not have to work full time, but could hang out and enjoy the friends and happenings that were Lawncrest.   In high school I decided to try new sports and did football, wrestling, and track again.  Again, not a star.  I went to Italy in Junior year to study Archaeology for two weeks.  It was worth working two years to go there.  I went to the Bahamas for Senior Week, and again, it was worth all the work and saving to go.  I even met that bald guy from Top Gun, and one of my friends got Scotty from Star Trek to say "I'm giving it all she's got, captain!"  (They were filming a movie there.)
Then is was off to college, Georgetown University.  I majored in Marketing.  I was one course shy of an International Business minor and Spanish minor.  Ah well.  I studied abroad in junior year - Chile first semester, and Egypt second.  I still keep in touch with the family in Chile, and still speak Spanish. My Arabic is a little rusty , but I can tell a cabbie where to take me.  I played rugby in college and in both countries as well.  It is a great way to meet people quickly.  Had the best roomates every year, which made the experience all the more better (that's not good English, is it?).  I started at one point a company with a friend sophomore year, but he bailed on me and it failed.  Then I grabbed my pail and set sail, nah I'm kidding.   Anyway, graduated in May 1998 and set forth to Bend, OR in July for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.  Took the train with my friend Stevie and saw the biggest Radio Flyer Red Wagon in the world!!  How cool is that.  It fits 163 people.  Really big.  I worked at the St. Vincent de Paul Society as a Social Service Assistant Supervisor.  Great job, really loved the people.
Now, I am working as an Inside Regional Account Manager with Computer Associates in the Princeton, NJ office.  The commute is an hour, but other than that it is a decent job and I am looking forward to working hard and moving up.  It is software sales - mostly database related software.  Remember, I could sell a tanning bed to a bedouin.
In my free time, I read, write, play with my little brother, go to the gym, watch TV and do what most 23 year olds do - go to the bar.  Once I have a more set schedule, I am looking to get back in to rugby, acting or both.  On the sly I began studying Ancient Greek (I studied it in high school) again last year and have re-picked it up.  It keeps my mind active and I enjoy languages.  Who knows, maybe Greece will take over the world again...

My girlfriend yelled at me that this was really sad if it was true.  I had just made the numbers up on the fly, b/c it always seemed (to me, anyway) that I was the dumpee, never the dumper.  So, after the talking to, I actually sat down and counted it out.  And it turns out I was actually more often the dumper, but only by 1 or 2 times.  I basically broke even.

Oh, and one of my "friends", Annette, also mentioned how sad it was if it was true.
I'll remember that.
