Just what are strange stamps, anyway? I suppose that I would define them as stamps that are a little out of the oridinary. I mean they're different from other stamps in that they don't have such everyday things as fishes, cute little puppies, or even flowers on them. Their are just a little strange, like my UFO stamps.

Take a look at the stamp at the right. It was issued by the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of America, in 1962. It was the first private club to ever place the image of flying saucers's on this or any other stamp. The stamp pictured below, is from a set of four stamps originally issued by the island nation of Grenada in 1977. Grenada therefore, is the first nation in the world to officially recognize the existance UFO's by placing them on postage stamps.

The UFO phenomena has been one of the most interesting subjects of study for me. I have spent numerious hours reading books about the Roswell crash and the events surrounding it. Sure I know that a lot of what has been written about the whole UFO phenomena is a lot of crap. But a lot of it is real, because some credible people have stepped forward and placed their lives, and their careers on the line to express their beliefs. I guess that's what intrigues me, removing the gold nuggets from the crap.

You might be thinking who cares? That's ok. Let me tell you how I got started collecting stamps in the first place. I had been looking for safe investment. A place where I invest my money. It had at to be very safe, very inexpensive and I had to be in complete control.

One day I was surfing the internet when I came across an Italian web site. Now I don't read or speak Italian so I wasn't sure of what this character was writing about. But there were some beautiful images of what I thought were postage stamps. A few of them were what I believed to be from the U.S. I did a little investigation and I found out the these were indeed postage stamps, and yes they really did have images of flying saucers on them.

That's when it hit me. I knew that I could collect these beautiful UFO stamps and make an investment at the same time. Over time, my interests broadened. I began to collect other stamps that caught my eye, such as Superman, Captain Canuck, and The X-men, etc. Later on I can add more catigories to my collection as I see fit. That's the beauty of it all, I get to decide what I want to do with all this. I am in complete control.
