THE DRAFT
1.0 Each team will draft a total of 14 NFL defensive players which
will bring their roster total to 20. The position break down
for each team will be different based on how many players are
protected at each position. A legal roster must have a minimum of
5 players at each of the 3 positions and a mininum total
roster of 20. Maximum roster size is 20, not including Injured reserve.
1.1 DFF's 2000 draft will be in email format. The email format is
yet to be determined. The draft date is yet to be determined,
likely the second week in August.
1.2 Draft order will be in reverse order of last years final standings.
The draft order will remain the same for all rounds. The previous
years DFF Superbowl champ will pick last.
LEAGUE RULES
2.0 The league will consist of 12 teams. There will be 3 divisions
of 4 teams each. Six teams will make the playoffs.
2.1 Head to head games will determine weekly winners. There will be 14
regular season games and the playoffs will take place from weeks 15
to week 17.
2.2 Owners will be choose their starters and formations which can be sent
to the commish through their team page.
2.3 Eleven players will score for a team based on the game plan.
A. 4-3 - 4 DLs, 3 LBs, 4 DBs
B. 4-4 - 4 DLs, 4 LBs, 3 DBs
C. 3-4 - 3 DLs, 4 LBs, 4 DBs
D. Nickel - 4 DLs, 2 LBs, 5 DBs
2.4 Free agents are available to owners throughout the NFL season.
Teams can cut and draft as many free agents per week as they want,
the only restriction is roster size.
2.5 The six teams that don't make the playoffs will compete for the
Toilet Bowl. The same format as the Defensebowl playoffs will
be used.
2.6 Owners will keep their teams from year to year.
2.7 Ties will be allowed in regular season games.
DEADLINES
3.0 Starters must be received by noon on game day. If a team does not send
in their starters, their previous weeks starters will be used. Exceptions
will be made if previous arrangements are made with the commissioner.
3.1 To make a trade with another owner, to place players on Injured
reserve or to pick up free agents, owners can either use
the team pages or just email the commissioner.
3.2 All times for deadlines are Eastern Standard Time(EST).
TRADES
5.0 Trading is allowed from the day after the first draft until
before the kick off on week 10.
5.1 Unbalanced trades will be allowed as long as both teams remain
legal. The commish must hear from both owners invloved in the trade
to have the trade processed.
5.2 Trades will be reviewed by the commissioner and may ask for a
vote by owners on the fairness of the trade. Trades can be
reversed at the discretion of the league commissioner or by a
vote of owners on the league.
5.3 Draft picks can be traded as long as rosters remain legal. Draft
picks can only be traded for the next year.
5.4 Two teams cannot trade the same player twice in the same year. This
is to prevent 'borrowing' of players.
ROSTERS
6.0 A legal roster will have a minimum of 5 DLs, 5 LBs and 5 DBs. A
roster cannot have more than 10 at any position. The roster maximum
is 20 players and the minimum is 20.
6.1 You will be notified if you have a problem with your roster
by the commissioner. You will given a time limit to make your
roster legal.
INJURED RESERVE
7.0 A player qualifies for a DFF team's IR if he is on the weekly NFL
injury list. Only players that are on NFL IR or listed as 'OUT'
qualify for a teams IR.
7.1 There is no limit to how many players you may have on your IR.
7.2 Players that are 'out' or on NFL teams IR are automatically
put on your IR so there is no need email the commish.
FREE AGENTS
8.0 Free Agents will be available to owners at any time after the draft has
been completed.
8.1 Teams can pick up as many free agents as they want, as long as
their roster remains legal. Free agents are available all NFL Season,
including throughout the DFF playoffs.
8.2 A player that is cut from a team is NOT eligible for the same
week as a free agent and will be on waivers until noon Sunday.
8.3 A player claimed by a team (that was cut the same week) will
go on waivers until noon on Sunday. The player will go to the
lowest ranked team who claims the player.
PLAYOFFS
9.0 Six teams will make the DFF playoffs. There will be 3 division
winners and 3 wild card teams.
9.1 Week 15 will be the wild card games. Week 16 will be Semis and
Week 17 will be the DFF Superbowl.
9.2 The 2 top division winners will get a bye in week 15.
9.3 Tie breakers for making the playoffs(also used for ranking)
are: 1. Won lost record 2. Total Points 3. Total sacks
4. Total Interceptions.
9.4 There will be a 3 point home field advantage for teams in the
The playoffs. See Schedule for playoff format. The Defensebowl
will NOT have a home field advantage.
9.5 The consolation playoffs or Toilet Bowl will follow the same
format and schedule of the Defensebowl playoffs.
9.6 There will be no ties in the playoff games. Winners will be
determined in case of a tie by: 1. Team with most sacks that
week; 2. Team with the most interceptions that week; 3. Team
with the most tackles that week; 4. Team with the most
assisted tackles that week.
SCORING
10.0 The following scoring values will be used in 2000:
Tackle = 0.2 points Fumble recovery = 0.8 points
Assisted Tackle = 0.1 point TD off turnover = 1.2 points
Sack = 1.4 points Return yards = 0.1 point every 10 yards
Half sack = 0.7 points Safety = 1.0 points
Interception = 1.4 points Passes Defensed = 0.3 points
Forced Fumble = 0.8 points
SCHEDULE
11.0 The head to head schedule has been posted in the Schedule
section and will be used for 2000
11.1 The playoff schedule is included in this the Schedule section.
KEEPER RULES
12.0 Teams will protect 6 players on their roster including the
players on their injured reserve. Teams can keep no more than
3 players at any position.
