OPEN For Easter:
This is just a reminder that we are open over the holidays as normal. We will be having a few competitions during these weeks.
New Prices In May:
Unfortunately with everything going up we have had to increase the training fees by £1.00 this will not take effect until May 2009 and will now be £14.00 per month, 2 hours per week will be £20.00 per month 3 hours per week will be £25 per month & 4 or 5 hours per week will be £30.00 per month. As before the more lessons you attend the cheaper they become. The per lesson price will now be £3.50.
Picking Up Students:
As you know we have to keep the children inside the hall until an adult or senior picks them up, we are very sorry if this causes problems but for safety reasons it has to be this way. We have a good routine now and it does not take much longer than it used to thank you for your co-operation.
Grading Certificates:
As you may have noticed February grading certificates had 2008 instead of 2009 printed on them. These will be replaced ASAP and we can only apologise for the mix up.
Congratulations to our student/trainee of the year:
A big well done to Matt Adams, Jake Congdon for achieving students of the year 2008 senior and junior & Chris Taylor + Jake Tinney for achieving trainee of the year 2008 junior and senior. Now its your chance to become student trainee of the year 2009.

Children need:
Thank you very much to Alex Morris, Rachel Morris, Connor Maseko, Elliott Dilley, Jake Tinney & Michael Tinney all who helped raised money for children in need we had a total of, 42.00. I know some students have said they will be bringing in their sponsors this week so ill add your names and total to this once received. Thanks again.
Training fees cheaper in December:
As there are only 3 weeks of training in December the fees will be cheaper than a normal month.
9.75 for one hour a week
14.40 for two hours a week
18.00 for three hours a week.
Picking up junior students:
As from 25th November we are keeping all children inside the hall until picked up by parents, this may seem a bit harsh but with the darker evenings and heavier traffic we cannot allow the children to be stood out side for any amount of time. There is a bad element of people who may take advantage of young children hanging around out side or near the halls. So we would ask all parents to come inside to collect their children. If you are going to be late we are at the hall till at least 8pm every night so you will know they will be safe. If you have someone else to come and pick them up please let us know. I will explain this to the children in class but I will also ask you to do the same at home so they know not to run off and wait until picked up. This is very IMPORTANT and I appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
Children in need 2008:
If you are interested in raising money for children ask for a sponsor form and start collecting. This year it will be an assault course where you have to complete as many laps in set time. Any students who bring a friend along for a free lesson in the next 4 weeks will get an extra 50p added to their form per friend they bring.

Stretching with out bouncing:
For many years now people have been using an incorrect form of stretching, as an example, when a person attempts to touch their toes they often use a bouncing type movement, which is totally wrong. There is a form of sensor system (which is called the stretch reflex) in each muscle that reacts automatically to a sudden stretch movement, forming a protection against over stretching. Therefore when a bouncy type movement is used, to touch the toes for instance, the hamstring muscles are pulled quickly and a reflex contraction takes place, which inhibits the elongation of that muscle. This means that the muscles are actually stopped from relaxing enough to extend to their full capacity.
If significant force is applied along with the bouncy movement, parts of the muscle can be over stretched and torn.
