Southwest U.S. Tour: 2003
From July 17-25, 2003, I went with family on a whirlwind tour of the southwest United States.  We logged almost 5000 miles on the road, but it was well worth it for all the things we saw along the way.  I did not get to see everything I'd ever want to see out there, but for the time I was there I saw a lot of stuff.  Here are just some of the pictures from my experiences:
Cactus at Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona.  This cactus was about 20 feet tall.
Below is Chiricahua National Monument... a beautiful mountain range in southeast Arizona.  The rock formations on these mountains are spectacular
It's a bit hard to see in the picture, but this is a balanced rock in the mountains.  It is balanced perfectly on another rock by a very small rounded point.
This is the San Xavier Mission in Tucson.  It was built in the late 1700's.  It still holds services today.
These are sand dunes in southern California just across the border from Yuma, Arizona. I climbed up a couple of them, quite an interesting experience.  It was only about 102 degrees the day I was there, but the temperatures here can exceed well over 110+ degrees on many summer days.
