I have to say that my favorite point styles are the various Paleo types, especially those with flutes. For some reason, the point styles termed "Paleo" just seem to have captured my attention and held it. Fluted points appear to be among the oldest types on the old Archeological record, and some of the most finely done as well. Reproduction of some of these types is also one of the toughest aspects of modern flintknapping. My friend Gary Merlie, from Illinois, is one of the premier knappers in the country today. One of his specialties is reproduction of fluted Paleo points. Gary was kind enough to let me link directly to his section on fluting. Kudos to the "Rockhead"! |
