I am starting this on March 12th 2001, I have no idea what exactly I'm going to put up here. I'll start with some photo's of myself and a couple cars that I have owned over the years. Later I may add some photos of my children, and grandchildren. But, for now, this is it, this is just to start, I will be completely updating it within a couple weeks. So come back later, and see what surprises I come up with.

My first photo - 1939 My latest photo 1999

This is the first photo ever taken of me, it was taken on November 17th 1939 in Wabash, Indiana. I was 2 months old at the time.

This is the last reasonably good photo taken of me. This is how I look today, well recently, the photo was taken in 1998 by my brother Monty, when we were living in Oceanside California. My beard is slightly grayer now, but my head is still just as bald.

My Car's

I decided to start with cars ... For many years cars were just about the most important thing in my life. My interest probably started when I was about 10 years old, listening to the Indianapolis 500, on the radio, with my Dad on Memorial Day. The interest was further fueled when I was introduced to the "Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild" during a presentation at my school. The guild was actually a automotive design contest sponsored by General Motors and was open to kids from 12 to 19. The contest consisted of designing, and building a model car (to a preset, set of dimensions .... but your own design) and sending it off to Detroit for judging ... There were state, regional, and national prizes ranged from a check for $50, to a 4 year Collage scholarship and a trip to Detroit.

For many, many years I would draw a picture of a car on almost any piece of paper that crossed my path. (Note: I'm currently editing some of the drawings and I hope to add a link to a whole gallery of my early sketches.) Later when I was 14 or 15, I changed, and began to branch out, and began to also make drawing women. I must admit, that the older I got, the more women I drew, and the fewer cars I drew. (Note: I also intend to add a link to some of my sketches of women.) as well as cars. Today I still like cars, (and women) but they have lost a lot of their appeal (cars, not women). Somewhere, around the mid 1970's, cars all began to look the same, I don't know if it was the energy crisis or the obsession with safety, or what, but today I would be hard pressed to tell you the difference between a Ford and a Chevy without looking at the name tag.

This is just a few of my cars, from my first to my latest (as I find the photos I will add some more later) ... hope you enjoy them.

Pedal Car

This is my very first car, it was purchased new, for me, by my parents for Christmas in 1941. Yes... That's me behind the wheel. Note: This photo was actually taken in the spring of 1942 (a few months after Pearl Harbor) so the Sailor suit was considered very patriotic at the time. I had some Uncles who had enlisted in the Navy, and were stationed somewhere in the Great Lakes, and that's where the Sailor suit actually came from.

Me and my 49' Mercury

This is the first car I ever bought for myself. After working in a market as a "Box Boy" for about 6 months, and passing my driving test I had saved enough money to buy it, I think, I paid $250 for the car. The car is a 1949 Mercury convertible, the year is 1957, and that's me standing by the front fender. The photo was taken by Nancy (who was later to be my 1st wife) in front of her parents house on Cohasset Street in North Hollywood, California.

280-Z photo

This is my current car, a 1977, Datsun 280-Z. When I purchased it in 1990, I was living in Ocean Side, CA and working in Anaheim, CA - The drive each day was about 92 miles (one way). When I got the car it had 135K miles, on the odometer, it now has 330K miles, I have replaced the clutch twice and the struts once, and the tires and break pads to many times to remember. The car runs as well as it ever did, and if Datsun (Nisson) was to ask for an endorsement I would give it to them without any reservations ... This has been, and still is, a really great car !

Romance

I didn't really know what to call this section, but since it is about romance, I figured that was a good title. The thing that I really want to say is that since the new year I have been lucky enough to have a wonderful lady come into my life. Her name is Faith and I have created a page just for her so you can read all about her there.
