Almost five years ago I was a music industry executive that represented many talented, award winning artists and personally managed grammy award winning producers. From the outside looking
in, it seemed like I was living, what should have been,a dream come true. But then one day it hit me; even though, I had successful career by industry standards, I was actually miserable and
feeling quite guilty about it. I was feeling personally defeated.
Oh come on Tina, miserable. Yes, completely miserable, and let me explain why. You see,though I earned an six figure income, I had absolutely no time to enjoy it. I had no control over my life. I didn't even have the time or energy to participate in the life that my husband and I were working so hard to create.
My children were being raised by a hired mom, my husband and I were estranged, I was always tired all the time and, I was surrounded by hostile or fake people that couldn't really 'care less' how
I was as long as paid them on time.
After spending almost ten years helping people to change their lives and be successful. I needed a change. Well, my answer, at that time, was to change my outside situations. So, I took on different projects thinking that if I do something less involved with in the same industry perhaps it wouldn't be so taxing. Well, that wasn't the answer ,so of course, being the person that I was I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and I figured that I if worked harder, that one day I would reap the awards of a 100 hour work week. Boy, was I wrong, wrong wrong. I quickly learned that when it comes work relationships,the more you give, the more they want.
One Saturday morning something amazing happened. I was getting ready to make some calls overseas to solicit work and I had an epiphany. I don't want to go to go overseas! I don't want to do this project
or any other projects like that one! I want a life! I was estatic to finally allow myself to say those words out loud and embraced it. I want a life!
My precious husband was in the room, at the time, and thought I was
having a nervous break down. I was actually experiencing a paradigm shift. The night before I went to bed with dread for the next day, but I woke up proclaiming,"Enough!"
Enough, jockeying for the next gig, Enough, spending my weekends on a cell phone instead of with my family. Enough, convincing myself that this is the best that 'it' can get. Enough was Enough!
You see, I realized that 'it' is not just going to change, I had to change 'it' and therefore change my outcome! First, I had to define what 'it' was and redefine what I wanted 'it' to be.
After I spent time evaluating that my next step was to I went on a search for a viable home-based that could help me earn the money I needed to make, with a part time schedule and found it. And finally, I took a deep look at myself again and defined what was my vision or dream. What was it that I really wanted to do in my heart of hearts.
Change is an Inside out process not an out side in process!
Well, change came and it came through prayer,diligence, personal honestly and taking the principals that I coached the artists and staff that we were in contact with every day and applying them solely to myself. During my journey, I was introduced to some wonderful,
successful individuals that prayed with me, encouraged me and mentored me to win this challenge with myself.
That was in 2000 and I only look back to reflect. I was earning a substantial income from home in less than a year just learning how to be the best me I could be - for me and enjoying my life.
In 2001, I started teaching young people and adults from all walks of life to do the same as a Life and Success Coach, Certified Christian
Counselor and Seminar faciltor. Most importantly, I became a fulltime mother and wife which, in my opinion, is the most rewarding job that any woman could sign up for!
