| WELCOME My name is Tom Mirek and thank you for visiting my bike MS Web site. You can follow the above links to pledge, find out more about bike MS, or find out more about me. I am a member of the board of the Mid-Florida Chapter of the National MS Society, and Captain of the Lockheed Martin MS Cycling team. This will be my seventh MS Bike Tour. MS is a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease, thought to be an autoimmune disorder. MS affects the central nervous system that consists of the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves. Symptoms of MS are vary from person to person and from time to time in the same person. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50 and two-three times as many women as men have MS. In our chapter that covers 23 counties MS affects over 100,000 people. To help let you know more about MS and the real impact it has on real people I have added a link to you tube versions of the MS film festival. Please take a look; they are quite good and informative. They give you an idea of why I am so passionate about the fight against MS. I hope that they both inform and motivate you. The MS bike tour raises nearly half of the funds needed by our chapter to help those in our community dealing with the devastating effects of MS.
