Trip to Mykayla - Timeline

5/25/00 -- mailed application to GWCA.

5/27/00 -- sent for birth certificate through Vitalchek online.

5/30/00 -- called INS and asked for "International Adoption Packet.

6/2/00 -- received confirmation letter from GWCA stating that they have approved my application. "I'm OFFICIAL!" Also, received copies of my birth certificate.

6/10/00 -- received packet from GWCA with adoption manual, autobiography, and list of resources. Received international adoption packet from INS with all of the forms.

6/13/00 -- received local police clearance.

6/20/00 -- completed financial statement and statement of single status and had them notarized at the credit union.

7/13/00 -- had fingerprints done at the Fort Worth INS center.

7/17/00 -- called and fingerprints have cleared.

7/25/00 -- first homestudy visit.

7/27/00 -- second homestudy visit completed in Dallas (we met at a Denny's).

8/10/00 -- received call from social worker that she is ready to fax a rough draft of the homestudy report.

8/11/00 -- faxed the homestudy with corrections back to social worker.

8/16/00 -- received the two official copies of the homestudy report from social worker. She said INS should have received the fedexed report from her on Monday, August 14. Also received her bill for the additional mileage and fees for being "out of area".

8/18/00 -- WOW! Received the I171H from the INS. That is really fast for Dallas INS.

8/25/00 -- Sent all but birth certificate to Secretary of State to be certified. (Problem with the kind of birth certificate I got, needed to be certified by county. So, I sent for another one from Austin.)

8/31/00 -- Sent new birth certificate to SOS to be certified.

9/1/00 -- sent all but birth certificate to Chinese Consulate to be authenticated.

9/5/00 -- sent birth certificate to be authenticated.

9/13/00 -- received last authenticated document.

9/13/00 -- sent completed dossier to GWCA with next payment.

9/21/00 -- officially DTC!!!!!!

6/7/01 – request from GWCA to have addendum to homestudy done for single/guardianship issue.

7/3/01 – received addendum from social worker.

7/9/01 – mailed addendum to SOS.

7/13/01 – received addendum from SOS.

DOR – 9/28/01 10:30 a.m. “It’s a girl!”
