SPECviewperf and SPECapc Test of the Hacked GeForce/GeForce2
tnaw_xtennis
SPECviewperf and SPECapc, general recognized benchmarks of 3D design professionals, were
applied to test
those hacked GeForce/GeForce2. The results indicate clearly that (1). Several
professional graphics features,
such as "Hardware anti-aliased lines/points", "3D Windows Clipping", etc., are really unlocked by Quadro hacking.
(2). Hacked GeForce2 MX (Quadro2 MXR) don't support "Hardware anti-aliased
lines/points". (3). Hacked GeForce/GeForce2 could performance very well like other professional graphics cards in the field
of 3D graphics
design.
The tests concerning process that relys largely on those unlock graphics features are
Test 1 (Wireframe test) in ProCDRS-03 of SPECviewperf - Hardware anti-aliased lines/points
Test 2 (Wireframe test, walkthrough) in ProCDRS-03 of SPECviewperf - Hardware anti-aliased lines/points
Test 2 (Wireframe-Smooth) of SPECapc for Pro/ENGINEER™ 2000i - Hardware anti-aliased lines/points
Test 6 (Shaded-Clipped) of SPECapc for Pro/ENGINEER™ 2000i - 3D Windows Clipping
The above test scores are listed specially in the last two column of the benchmark
result tables. These results show
very clearly the influence of those graphics features on card performances in the
benchmarkings. The cards such as
Elsa Gloria II(Quadro), mod GeForce(Quadro) and mod GeForce 2 GTS(Quadro2 Pro) that support "Hardware
anti-aliased lines/points" run Test 1 (Wireframe test), Test 2 (Wireframe test) and Test 2
(Wireframe-Smooth)
several times faster than those cards e.g. GeForce 2 GTS and mod GeForce 2 MX(Quadro2 MXR) that don't
support "Hardware anti-aliased lines/points". The cards such as Elsa Gloria II(Quadro), mod GeForce(Quadro) and
mod GeForce2 MX(Quadro2 MXR) that support "3D Windows Clipping" run Test 6
(Shaded-Clipped) several
times faster than the cards e.g. GeForce 2 GTS that doesn't support "3D Windows Clipping". As for other unlock
features, please refer to masses of discussions posted in our GeForce1(2) -> Quadro1(2) message
board.
SPECviewperf Benchmark
A description from SPEC’s site:
"SPECviewperf measures the 3D rendering performance of systems running
under OpenGL."
"Currently, there are five standard SPECopc application viewsets and one 'generic' viewset:
ProCDRS viewset
is intended to model the graphics performance of Parametric Technology Corporation's CDRS industrial design
software. IBM's Data Explorer (DX), which has 10 different tests, is a visualization application. Intergraph's
DesignReview (DRV), which now has 5 different tests, is a 3D computer model review package.
Alias/Wavefront's
Advanced Visualizer (AWadvs), now with 11 tests, is an animation application. And Discreet Logic's
Lightscape
Visualization System (Light), with four tests, is a radiosity visualization application. These type of applications typically
render large data sets. They almost always include lighting, smooth shading, blending, line antialiasing, z-buffering, and
some texture mapping. Finally, the newest viewset is medMCAD. This is a 'generic' viewset that models the graphics
performance of a range of immediate mode, MCAD applications suitable for medium sized models. It contains twelve
tests. All six viewsets represent relatively high-end applications. "

SPECapc for Pro/ENGINEER 2000i Benchmark
A description from SPEC’s site:
"A benchmark based on Pro/ENGINEER™ 2000i. The model used in the
benchmark is a realistic rendering of a
complete photocopy machine consisting of
approximately 370,000 triangles."
"There are 16 graphics tests, each of which measures a different rendering mode
or features. The first three graphics
tests measure wireframe performance using
the entire model. The next four measure different aspects of shaded
performance,
using the same model. "
