My Family Notes
			My gr gr grandfather James H. Buchanan was born in GA on March 31, 1821 and was married to Nancy Ellen Hardin (d/o John Walker Harden and Priscilla Gresham) June 20, 1844 in Harris Co., GA. I am attempting to discover who James was the son of. In the 1840 Harris Co., GA Census there is Benjamin Jasper Buchanan household with a 19 yr. old male. This could very well be James. He seems too old to have been a son of Benjamin, maybe he was a younger brother of Benjamin. Also in the 1840 Harris Co., GA Census is Jesse Buchanan and Edward Colvin. He was the father-in-law of Nancy Ellen Hardin's sister Jane Walker Harden that married Daniel A. Colvin in about 1837. I believe that Nancy most likely met James Buchanan through the Colvins and he is the 19 yr. old living in the household of Benjamin Buchanan in the 1840 census. After James and Nancy were married they lived in Merriweather Co., GA where they had 2 children, Priscilla Ann born June 18, 1845 and Robert Larkin born June 7, 1847. Not long after Robert was born the family left GA along with some other families, traveling together with the Colvin's, Ball's, Stowe's, Barmore's and Harden's. James and Nancy are found again in the 1850 Jackson Parish, LA where they have had another daughter Elizabeth Jane, born Dec. 14, 1849.

		In May of 2007 I had my brother Robert's DNA tested and here is what we found about our Buchanan line. Our line were Frisian people from the border area of Holland (Netherlands) with Germany. So far the only Frisian modal signature in the Buchanan DNA study. It's in the Haplogroup R1b1. Some names we are close matches to are Garrison and Osborn.
