Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Task 3, Part 1: Click on the Magical Realism bar above and read Eva Is Inside Her Cat by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  When you have completed this task, draw, paint, or sketch an image in your Magic Journal that represents the story.

Task 3, Part 2: Next, click on the picture of Marquez (to the left) and read his 1982 Nobel Prize Lecture.  In your Magic Journal, explain "solitude" according to Marquez.  What connections do make between his lecture and his literature?
Task 3, Part 3: First, click on the Featured Artists bar (below right) and browse a few of the musicians who have been influenced by Marquez's writing.  (You may recognize at least one of the bands!)  Then, click on the Daniel Catan Bar and read how his 1996 opera was influenced by One Hundred Years of Solitude.  When you are done, click on the cd image (to the right) and listen to the audio clip from Catan's opera.  As you are listening, draw or write in your Magic Journal any images or words that immediately come to mind (stream of conciousness method).
