ELLENA CAROLE COMPTON SMITH

1969-2001

Ellena Carole Compton Smith of Gulf Breeze, 31, manager at Federal Express, died unexpectedly on the evening of August 26 of natural causes at the family home.

Ellena was born at Sacred Heart Hospital, September 26, 1969. She grew up in Memphis, Tenn; attended the University of Tennessee and received her baccalaureate from the University of Memphis in 1991. Soon thereafter, she relocated to Atlanta, Ga. and went to work for Federal Express. Smart and ambitious, she rose to be a manager and had just accepted a more responsible position in Orlando, Fla.

She married Adam on August 31, 1997, and they were planning a celebration of their fourth anniversary. Maya was born on June 5, 2001, and is the joy of everyone's life.

In addition to her husband Adam, she is survived by her infant daughter Maya Blue Smith, by her father, Stephen Compton and stepmother, Nancy Compton, both of Edgewater, Md., her mother, Linda Flores and stepfather, Robert Pressman of Elkins, Ark., Adam's parents, Richard and Vivian Smith of Pensacola Beach, her soul sisters, Amy, Shawn, and Kelly, as well as friends, associates and loved ones around the country.

Following the cremation, there will be a memorial service at 3pm Friday, August 31, 2001, at Rose Lawn Funeral Home at 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, a few miles east of Gulf Breeze Proper.

Rose Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola or the Save the Manatees Foundation.
