What is it? The "Tobinator" buffeting eliminator enables you to raise your R1150GS windscreen and change its position. Its components are made from CNC machined billet aluminium - it's more than just a bit of alloy plate.. Each one is built to order. They fit directly onto the standard screen mountings. How does it reduce buffeting? Raising the R1150GS windscreen means that more air can get under it, so preventing the creation of a vaccuum behind the screen. On standard screens, when the vaccuum is created it cannot be sustained for any length of time so it fills with air and then "pops", which creates the buffeting you feel. The Tobinator increases the gap between the screen and the dash which allows more air to get behind the screen. This significantly reduces the vaccuum effect and therefore the buffeting. Additionally, the Tobinator allows you to position your screen forwards and backwards. This enables you to get the optimum screen position for your height and riding style, further reducing turbulence. The standard screen tilt capability is still enabled. Easy to fit? Fitting takes about 10 minutes. No modifcations are needed to your screen or dash - it bolts straight on. You'll need to have a few test runs to get the best position - but that's a good excuse to get out on the bike anyway! I find mine works best in a slightly rearward position with the screen tilted back. Etc... I developed this because I was fed up getting bashed about by the buffeting on my own R1150GS on my 54 mile daily commute. I didn't want the hassle and cost of a new windscreen and thought there must be a better way. The first Tobinator was made from plastic, but proved the concept. I'll keep developing it as long as there is demand. I'm covering my costs on these, not making a profit. They are all made to order, and I also have a "proper job" as well, so please be patient with the ordering/response process. It will be worth it. Regarding the name - I couldn't resist! Ordering Each Tobinator is £35, plus £2 postage in the UK. For the USA, it is $57 plus $10 postage (using Royal Mail internationally signed for service). Following keen interest from the USA, I am setting up a PayPal account to make payments easier. If you're in the UK you'll also be able to pay by PayPal. This should be sorted by 25 June. If you cant use PayPal, I'll take UK cheques or direct bank transfers. There's obviously an element of trust here, but I wont cash any cheques until the Tobinator is despatched to you. I trust the cheques wont bounce, and you trust that I'll send you the goods. To order, email me at tobers2000@yahoo.co.uk and I'll email you back with my address to post cheques to and bank account details. Alternatively, I'll put the PayPal details up shortly, so you can use their "send payment" function, but be sure to include your postal address so I can send you your Tobinator. Each Tobinator is made to order, so delivery will be between 7 and 14 days in the UK. To demonstrate I'm a "good guy" you'll find me on the www.rsvr.net where I am the moderator for the bulletin board. I am also a registered user on the UK GSer board at www.ukgser.com |
