Ishapore No.1 Mk.III Conversion .410 Musket
I'm not too sure of the history behind these "muskets".  I don't know why they're called muskets except for the fact that they're smoothbores.  They are actually .410 gauge shotguns.  They started out as Enfield No.1 Mk.III rifles, chambered in .303.  The Indian government authorized them to be converted to riot guns for police use.  So they were bored out and chambered for a resized .303 shell loaded with shot pellets.  In some of them, standard 2" .410 shells will fit.  But this is an obsolete caliber.  Some have been reamed for 2-1/2" or 3" .410 shells.  The two examples I have will apparently only chamber resized .303 cases.

These shotguns are both dated 1942 for the original manufacture date.  One was converted in 1947 and one in 1949.  They both appear well-used but in surprisingly good condition.
And a close-up of the buttstocks:
Below is a picture of a reject slip that was hanging off one of them.  I'll have to pay special attention to this one before attempting to fire it.  I wish the tag was a little more specific on why it was rejected and who rejected it!
