The Yugoslavs eventually phased out the M59 in favor of the new and improved M59/66 SKS that had grenade-launching capability. Because resources were limited and these rifles were already in circulation, they not only began production of the new M59/66 rifle, but converted many existing M59s to M59/66 configuration. For that reason, the M59 is somewhat rare and difficult to find.
These two M59 SKS rifles were purchased as "U-FIX-EM" rifles. The only thing they were missing was bayonets and cleaning rods. The price was right, and so I jumped on the opportunity to own these somewhat rare versions of the SKS. They are both in very used condition. Both are mismatched and the bluing is well worn. The bore on one of them is somewhat pitted from corrosion, but the other is in surprisingly good shape. It is my contention that these M59s were circulated into police service after the military decided it had no use for them any more. This would probably explain the missing bayonets.
The picture below shows them "as received", missing bayonets and cleaning rods. I have since installed original blade bayonets on both of them and cleaned/refinished them. I will update the pictures when I get a chance.
