Well, nothing new except ALOT!

I´ve moved AGAIN!!!!!! Living out east was too expensive because I had to travel to Reykjavik so often for shows and other events. It was a wonderful life experience to try living in the beautiful east coast fjords and I´m extremely glad I had the chance to try it. It reminded me alot of certain parts of Norway.

I had decided to move to Canada to be with family but that too turned out to be more than I could afford and so I had to postpone (or change plans completely, we´ll see what the future brings) and bought a small place in Stokkseyri instead. It´s a step down from the larger places I´ve lived in before but it´s cosy. The real estate prices in Reykjavik have gone up so much that I don´t think I will ever be able to buy a place in Reykjavik again, kind of sad, but I do like the quiet of the country and being a bit secluded.
At the time I was planning to move to Canada I had a puppy named Kersins Tibra Töfradis. Her mother died tragically in a car accident and I decided that since her breeder was left without a breeding bitch and I was going to have a hard time getting all my dogs to Canada and back, that it was in everybodies best interest to let her move back home to her breeders. Very hard decision because that left me without a breeding bitch as well. She was a bit of a handful at times but a cute little puppy and I do miss her. I´m sure that she is happy now, as well as her breeder Helga. At least I hope they are, I kindof think it was meant to turn out this way.  Who knows I may be so lucky in future to be able to buy a puppy out of Tibra.

As fate would have it, I´m certainly not reducing my number of dogs! Töfra Birta Freyja is back home, she arrived three days ago. Her owners were having trouble raising her because they have never had a dog before and they have a young girl as well as a new one on the way. They felt their only choice was to put her to sleep or find a new home. And well...long story short, she´s back with her mother Freyja and feels right at home. She is such a beautiful, sweet natured dog and I am thinking of possibly letting her have one litter in future. Not sure if she´ll stay with me indefinately, I still might try to find a good forever home for her. Her and her mother are the spitting image of each other and it is so wonderful to see them interact, they truly seem to love each other. I think if Freyja leaves this earth soon it will be extremely difficult to part with Birta so I´m going to see how things go.

I´m expecting a new "grandpuppy" to join my breeding program and I´m so excited about that. The quarantine is booked and I await patiently to see which little puppy will be mine and will join me and the gang in July of next year. Photos of the puppies can be seen
here. Lotta is a sweet and beautiful female that I truly did want to keep when she was small and her "mate" is a great great grandpuppy that I have loved from the moment I met him. When I lived in Norway I wanted to use him on Frigg but he was of course too young at the time. His temperament is wonderful as well and I expect his and Lotta´s puppies will be a nice combination of the two.

Among other news. Freyja is on the list of top winning veterans of the year (the show year is from Oct.-Sept.) again. Last time I didn´t show her enough. So I will look forward to showing her next year. She does seem to be getting older more quickly now so I really hope that she will be in good condition for the shows in March and June. She´ll be 12 years old in June so you never know, could be her last year. Her family is generally not so long lived so I´m pleased that she is still young at heart, seems healthy and happy to be around.

Impressive news of my GSP puppies, Moa and Heiða (who is in Norway) both have 1.prize at hunting trials as well as best young dog at the trials (Moa in Iceland, Heiða in Norway). Moa also did extremely well at the last two shows. Hetta has managed to win the Winners class at a hunting trial and many of the other puppies are also doing incredible things. Three of my puppies Hetta, Nero and Moa are on the list over top winning hunting trial dogs of the year 2005. Just getting on that list I think is truly an honour and in my mind often more rewarding and important than winning at shows!

I went to visit my family in Canada in November and we had an early Christmas, that was wonderful. Almost all the family was there and it really felt like Christmas. It´ll be strange to have another Christmas so soon, we´ll be alone though so I don´t really think it´ll feel like Christmas, just a nice dinner occasion with some decorations. I´m planning another trip over in February, my mother´s and my birthdays are in February so I´m hoping to spend a couple weeks with my mom. Poor dogs will be in a kennel again, they don´t like that much and I think that´s one of the reasons Freyja has gotten older so fast over the past few weeks.

That´s all for now. So in short for those who have lost touch with me through all my moving around and being without a phone and internet. (Thank goodness I have that back now, I felt quite cut off from the world). For the moment I´m still living in Iceland and have the same email address and phone number as before. However now I´m in the Mecca of Iceland dog population in the south part near Selfoss and Hveragerði. I´m looking forward to raising Birta Freyja and a new puppy next year and all seems well.
