Kumas kennelname is Tarumäen Tokidoki, breeder Eeva Aaltonen who lives in Lahti, Finland.
The litter was born on Septembe 25. 1999. There was 5 males and 3 bitches. All except 2 white puppies were red. Kuma is Japanese and means bear. Well, thatīs what Kuma looks like, a bear, at least thatīs what everybody tells me.
Kuma came to live with us when he was 7 weeks old and settled quickly. He is the first dog in our family witch includes me, my mom and our cat Hiiru.
At first Hiiru was terrified but with time both got used to each other.
Kuma was really easy to train when he was young. Week after he had come home he knew what sit means and after couple of weeks he could go down and give paw.
I believe that all akitas are quick learners at young age. When they get older the problem seems to be the motivation. They donīt have the will to pelase so they use to do what ever they want.
Getting used to collar and lead went really well. Kuma doesnīt pull on lead (at least when Iīm in the end of it). Sometimes he of course has to try to take the lead but he understand pretty quick that itīs no use.
Kuma has had really hard teenages. Then we have ad fights but when those were over we had peace.
With Kuma we have also been to many dog shows. He has almost finished his  Finnish champion title, only one certificate is missing. There are some judgements behind the link shows.
We have also done obedience training and been to agility trainings. Kuma was really good in obedience. We went on with the force of sausage..
After Kuma was 1 year old it finally snowed. We started skiing and I must say that without Kuma I may never have skiid after junior high school. Skiing with a dog is more fun than alone. Of course it isnīt nice when he stops in the middle of huge hill and I fall down, but who minds little things.

You can see Kumaīs pedigree behind link bedigree. Kuma is 25 % Great Japanese Dog, witch was separated from akita in the beginning of year 2000. The GJD influence shows in facen and in coat. His eyes are bit too round and hair is too short.

I have to say that akita breed is so wonderful that I will propably get more akitas in the future. My dream is to start breeding akitas, but first I have to get lot more experience from this breed.
I am glad that we have so good breed club here in Finland. Members of our club are always ready to give information on any possible subject.
