Tartus

This is Syria's second port and was originally founded by the Phoenicians.

The old city of Tartus was known to the Crusaders as Tortosa, when it was a stronghold for the Knights Templar, and its medieval town walls and ramparts are still partially standing today. There is also a large and impressive 12th century cathedral, which houses a small museum.
