When was Laputa Created?
Orginal Story/Script/Director
Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most prominent and influential figures in the world of Japanese animation. Many of his works are classics in the field: Lupin III, Nausicaa, Laputa, and Totoro, to name just a few. His movies are smash hits in his native Japan and are fondly rememebered by most anime fans worldwide. No matter how fantastic the situation, Miyazaki imbues his works with compelling characters, intricate plots, and emotional pathos found almost nowhere else in the anime genre. No matter how fantastic the subject may be, his realist style always makes the story believable. Hayao Miyazaki is certainly the foremost practitioner of anime as a form of drama that is both distinct from and equal to traditional, live-action cinema.
