Comments: Hello, I am interested to your pre amp that you modified from Marant pre amplifier. And I am going to build it by my self, but I don't sure about the sound quality of your pre amp. If you don't mind, please give information about the specificaton of that pre amp, especially for distortion and music quality. Concerning your tube regulator power supply, how about the quality? is it better than convensional (filtered with capacitor only) power supply or not?
Or may you have suggest for me, with pre-amp and Power amp from your project are better to build. And I am sorry, I leave the homepage ! row blank cause I don't have.
Thank you very much for your information.

Comments: I read your comments on your S.E.300B amp.it sounds like it would be very nice ,but have you considered useing a2A3 or a6A3 with a small 8watt vintage output transformer ? the results are astounding and the cost is modist by any standard oh by the way use a small rf reciving triode for the voltage gain stage my favorate is this little lady it has a sweet musical sound.\ My first tube amp to build was also a williamson type agood if not a pentode sound good for rock music but not so for classical or jazz

Comments: Hello fellow tube lover! I just purchased my first tube amp a MATCHLESS CHIEFTAIN 410 and I love it to death. A few days after buying this amplifier I was totally hypnotized by my wonder of tube technology and its tone. My matchless runs in class A configuration, and I'm just beginning to learn exactly what that means. A week after buying my new amp I ran down to real guitars in san francisco and wanted to buy this old magnatone (this thing was georgeous) as a project for myself. I was planning to take it apart and learn from it while hoping to upgrade it and rewire it and just get it back into shape (it was pretty banged up). Anyway someone had bought the amp before I got to it and this is the reason I am writing to this page in search of someone that could maybe point me in the direction of a good do-it-yourself-first-time-tube-amp-construction-project-book or something like that. If you could help me it would be much appreciated. My name is JONATHAN HYSLOP address:635 GREEN ST. SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94133 (415) 391-6282

Comments: HI! I was looking for a schematic to play with and ran into your website. Pretty nice. I am a ham radio operator/ drummer. I do alot of old radio restoration, music amp repairs and building a few of my own. Thought I'd come over and see what you are doing. I see you are running the whole amp with cathode bias and the finals in triode. Is 250 ohms class A for the 6L6's? If so ... where did you come up with the high current output transformer? also... 380 VAC secondary? Close to 500VDC on the plates.. too high for class A.. Did I miss a text explanation of the circuit? Sorry if I did. Talk to you again. Bruce KB0TJ in Denver
