The mighty Choujuu-Giga!
Father of all mangas!
The word Manga has been made in 1814 by the famous artist
Katsushika Hokusai, initially it has been used for papyri and illustrations. The first example of Manga we've got is the Choujuu Giga, of the 12th century created by the buddhist monk Toba and representing animals by human beings. The growth of Japanese drawings had a u-turn in the 19th century when Ukyo-e enjoyed again great favours. In the same time the creation of satirical drawings like Tanuki-e and Namazu-e made possible the birth of magazines similar to modern Mangas. Afterwards Manga gained a lot of fans also in other oriental countries like Taiwan & Korea, also with the help of pirate versions of the most famous Japanese Mangas. But there was the problem of the low-quality translations, whom was resolved after the acquisition of the rights. Now Manga-kas appear also in these countries (Taiwan, Korea, etc.) . We already know about the following history of Manga's success....
