GLAY pure soul in STADIUM "SUMMER of '98"

When we arrived at the Ikebukuro train station, various staff members were already holding up signs and directing the Glay concert attendants to a particular area to buy their round trip train tickets.

Outside the stadium

Although the concert is supposed to start at 5:30 pm, there were already a lot of people waiting outside the stadium when I arrived at 4:30 pm. The first thing that I did was to line up with the crowd to buy the concert program as well as some souvenirs. Afterwards, I went around and took pictures with some Glay fans who dressed like the Glay members!!!

Concert

At about 5:10 pm, I started to enter the stadium. While I was looking for my seat, I was handed a package by one of the staff. After I sat down, I looked inside the package -- I was so happy to find Glay ads (e.g. the ad for the magazine "Creation" and ad for the Pure Soul album & video etc) as well as a Glay folder!

The concert started at 5:45 pm. As soon as the lights were turned on, everyone in the stadium stood up and started yelling. Then Teru, Takuro, Hisashi, Jiro came onto the stage along with D.I.E. and Toshi. As soon as Teru started singing, all 40,000 people in the stadium sang, jumped and waved along with him.

Teru has sung a lot of new songs from the Pure Soul Album as well as some old hit songs such as "However". Time just flew by and the end of the concert was approaching.

In the first encore, the four members came out to sing a few more songs including Glorious and Kuchibiru etc. They also brought their "toys" with them. For example, Hisashi has brought his water gun and Jiro has brought his baseball bat with some signed baseballs to be thrown to the audience.

In the second encore, the four members came out with their accoustic guitars and played games with the audience. Teru also told us that there were thousands of people standing outside the stadium listening to the concert. Teru asked the concert audience to be quiet and asked the people outside to yell. We immediately heard a big crowd yelling outside the stadium!!! Finally, Teru asked everyone to sing the song "I'm in Love" together with him. The concert ended at 8:45 pm.
