Hello everyone, hope the first two weeks of school have been a good start to the academic year for all! the weather has been rather on and off and it seems to be rather cold for autumn... not too good a sign, still there are activities for you to look forward to. basically, we have been allocated only 9 Singnite tickets this year.

Singnite is in February 19 - 20 1999. SIngnite is a traditional D n D organised every year for singaporeans to get together and have night of fun and lots of dancing and drinking.. Singnite was held in Manchester last year... and will be held in Glasgow this year. this makes logistical arrangements kind of difficult.

on the 19th friday, there is a celidh dance night - a kind of celtic dance night in a hall where we will all gather and learn their culture. after which, there will be a pub crawl for ppl who want to do all-nighters. but don't forget that the dinner is the following day so this is only advisable for ppl who have loads of energy to spare and can do without sleep! on saturday 20 feb, morning, there is a trip out to edinburgh.

the cost of the trip is a mere £6 and a coach will take everyone there and around the place. after the trip, the coach will take you back and then you can get prepared for the evening formal D & D. the ticket price for the D & D is £20. the hotel which you will be in costs £40 a room a night which is fairly reasonable a price for a 4 star hotel - twin sharing. now, history tells us that we can put like 6 ppl in one room since the D & D will only end at 3 a.m. anyway and not much sleeping will be done. ppl usually stay up to talk or have more drinks... and not many get down to sleeping itself. the next morning is a free morning - you may want to use it to tour glasgow to go up to the rest of scotland... the trip to edinburgh and the D & D will cost 26 pounds in all, although you may opt out of the trip if you have prior or other plans. the trip up to scotland will vary, depending on the mode of transport used - the plane ticket could cost about 60 pounds and the train about 30 pounds. but the train does take about 5 to 6 hours to go up.. so that might deter ppl from going. there will be a coach to pick you up from the airport to take you to where the dance will be held or to the hotel, depending on what time you arrive... but we need to know these details in advance.

this event has been very much subsidised already. the hotel rates are very good and this is the first time they are having a two-day event for Singnite... so grab a few friends and sign up for this event... you have to be a Singaporean or a PR to attend. i know this is a bit rushed, for you to decide all this so quickly when february seems so far away. but because of logistical arrangement, i need all replies by the 25th of October. thank you!
