Traveler Info: Although the security situation in Cambodia has improved this year, there is still banditry and fighting in some areas. The presence of small numbers of Khmer Rouge troops in several parts of the country remains a potential threat to foreign travellers and visitors should exercise caution even when in Phnom Penh. Visitors are strongly advised not to travel anywhere outside the capital by road, rail or boat. Those wishing to visit the temples at Angkor should travel by air to Siem Reap airport, remain within the main temple complex and not attempt to travel to Banteay Srei or other outlying temples. Under no circumstances attempt to cross the border (by land) between Cambodia and Thailand.
